[RF Events] Latest News : two cute dogs - Bespoke 1:1 street photography workshops

There has been an increased interest in photography using Rangefiners (RF) and spilling into street photography.

To promote sharing and the getting together of like-minded RFers, from beginners to armatures to professionals, from enthusiasts to evangelists to collectors, and even those who are just interested to know more about RF...

e.g. RF photography workshop / talks / seminars / RF product launches / etc. RFSG monthly outings need not be added here, as they already have their own dedicated threads...

CS advertisers and workshop organisers have a paid subscription to advertise on CS, and I do not intend to tread on their toes... again, this is in the spirit of sharing info to the rest of the RF community, be it a free or paid event. That been said, I cannot stop an advertiser using a clone account or asking a friend to post his ad... but let's pilot this and see how it goes. I will leave this thread open for now, for all to post.

Pls note, this thread is strictly not for promoters, organisers, or ppl with a vested interest in the event / ad... but for RFers to share RF events and happenings in and around Singapore.

Sharing is fine, but any post (esp repeated post) to drum support or promotional activity here will be deleted.

Requirements and Conditions:
- Short write-up (required).
- Can provide additional link for more info, but no linking directly to subscription / sign-up page.

I accept that there might not be a nice definitive line between black and white here... esp for events which require a fee. But I hope that we can work something here in continued efforts to grow the RF community in Singapore.

If you're unsure of what should be included / excluded, just pm me and we can discuss it offline.

Cheers,
CJ

I don't post very often and am not part of RF.SG but I am an avid RF user. Some months ago, I attended Thorsten's workshops in Hong Kong and yes you could say that I have a friendship with Thorsten so this post is perhaps a little biased, however I came away from the workshops a different photographer. And I honestly believe that Thorsten is a good influence for anyone to have, a really bad influence though on your wallet. But that's another thing for another day.

Anyway, he asked me to spread the word and share with the community at large, so here I am.

He has a page set up for this upcoming workshop;
overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard Photo Seminar and Advanced Workshop in Singapore

Please don't think any thing underhanded of this. It's just a friend doing a favour for a friend. :)

That is really great! Glad to see him here is Singapore....:D

Digilux 2 love soon? :bsmilie:

According to Thorsten, there's only one spot left on his February workshop. He's thinking of doing another seminar between the 1st of March to the 4th if the amount of attendees spills over.

thats good news to hear!
hope the mods wont censor this
the last time i posted about a street photographer having workshop here, it got censored!lol!:o

this is from terms of use. I don't know whether it applies to everybody or only Thorsten Overgaard.

pls be fair to mods. the other thread was quite different in form, in asking ppl to sign up for a paid workshop. and the mod did explain his reasons before closing the thread...

i might have to check the legal writing on this...

Well, whichever it is, know that I receive no commission nor gain from promoting a workshop from a fairly well-known(being conservative here) Leica photographer. Like I mentioned in the original post, just a friend spreading the word for a friend. I can highly recommend him, but then again no one knows me anyway so I don't believe it would mislead anyone into just jumping right in.

btw, there is certainly no requirements to be a member of RFSG in order to post in this forum, only requirement is to be a CS member... DSLR, SLR, m43, MF, LF, compact users are all welcomed here to share, discuss, discover rangefinder cameras. to that end, sg, my, hk, au, de, fr, jp, in, id, uk, ph, etc... also not important...

Of course not, that was not my concern. ;)

Edit;
Thorsten's February workshop is full, and because of demand, he is now hosting a March workshop between the 1st to the 4th as well just in case anyone is interested!

March 10 & 11, 2012: 10:00-18:00 Workshop @ the National Museum of Singapore

"Do you know where you're going next with your photography –– or where it’s taking you? This intensive weekend workshop will help photographers begin to understand their own distinct way of seeing the world. It will also help photographers figure out their next step photographically –– from deepening their own unique vision to the process of discovering and making a long-term project that they’re passionate about, as well as the process of how long-term projects evolve into books and exhibitions. A workshop for serious amateurs and professionals alike, it will be taught by Alex and Rebecca, a creative team who often edit projects and books together –– including their book and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, exhibition, "Violet Isle: A Duet of Photographs from Cuba.” They will teach the workshop with David Chickey, noted book designer and the creative director of Radius Books. David collaborated with Alex and Rebecca on their joint book, “Violet Isle,” on Alex’s recent book, “The Suffering of Light,” and on Rebecca’s upcoming book, “My Dakota.” The National Museum of Singapore is a venue partner of this photography workshop."
