Just to share this with the folks here, i've done this (easy DIY) to my Yashica Lynx 14 and works like a charm, for now! At least... an easy and viable alternative before you consider sending in for CLA!

Hmm but will it leave the sticky residue?

Cool! did it on my yashica gsn. got to trim the diamond on a small piece of black graffer tape. got to fine trim it to the right size and position it so the and the sharp clear image is outline (not too bold ) by the black tape in the front of RF. Thanks for the tip new ghost!

KodKod32, hope it helps!

I guess the same with using gaffer tape... sticky residue may be unavoidable but hopefully not uncleanable :)

A neat little trick for sure! Unfortunately does not work with Nikon RF cameras though. The best way to improve a dim focus patch in a Nikon RF is to clean all the sides of the half mirror and all the surfaces in the finder. If the finder is in otherwise good condition, the improvement will be huge.

i did this on my XA and previously on my MG-1, i used electrical tape, the residue is minimal and easily cleaned.. btw, make it the correct size (slightly smaller than the RF patch that you see from the VF) and it will maintain the superimposed image, and not becoming split image.. just experiment around with the placement and size.. on my XA the size is about 2mmx3mm, and it really improves the contrast without making it split image.. :)

fellow CSER send me this link and it's an interesting concept but....... if I can't see the entire image, how to compose ? Sorry .. confuse.

try it out, and you will understand!

Another way is to stick a YELLOW film transparent strip across the VF window, the patch seem to brighten up to me.;)
