I know someone here has done it before... Sorry but I can't remember who you are. I only happened to see the picture you posted some time back.

So the question is, where do I send it? Came across this Shintaro guy, is he any good?

There are several repainters in Japan, UK and US.

CRR Luton in UK is quite good but long wait time.
Rangefinder restoration in US is good too.
Whist Shintaro is well respected in some communities. There are several other options as well.

Cheers,

I heard that some of them has a long waiting list more than a year. Is that true?

CRR is not accepting any orders till Mar 2010. So yeah, I think the backlog must be pretty long...

Im also wondering who can do painting for me in Singapore.. ;)

Bro, I had a Robert restoration M2 before and now got a Shinatro Black paint but I bought both after the previous owners already repainted them.

In my opinion, the Shinatro is much better than Robert.

i'm actually looking for a banged up body to try repainting myself. I've looked through the process and it looks really fun!

Yup...DIY is fun and satisfying if you are into it ...you need the special wrench to open those round ring...

:)

I know, the wrench is a real bitch. I found some 5mm copper stock in my junk pile so i cut one out last night, seems to work brilliantly. now all i need to do is to find myself a scratched up body to start working on...

You need a few sizes of the wrench for various parts...there are plenty of battled bodies in evil bay for your trial test...have fun.

:)

apparently with the m6, only 2 are needed, the retaining ring on the film advance and the flash sync. the m2 looks tricky with the film rewind ring being really near the body. lets see how it goes!

Not having much luck/response from them. Sigh.
