Hi anyone know where to rent a redrock m2 system for canon eos mount for panasonic hvx-202? If so what are the rates like?

Thanks in advance!

PM me...my fren just brought one.. i ask him wether he got rent a not :P

yea at last someone's talking about adaptors!

Would like to know your friend =) every picture needs some good dof.

U should chk out the Brevis too.. thaz ssnice... But I think u can count with yr hands the no. of folks who have it here.

Letus35 Extreme for the win. Someday...i want that piece of equipment...grrrr. The economy version is going for 900 usd, and with cavision rails it'll cost about 1.6k sing. You can't argue with 0.5 stops of light loss, along with a flipped image. You just can't. You can't can't can't. I'm going delirious. Somebody gimme a letus extreme!

PS: I'd like to rent/borrow an adaptor..any adaptor in the near future...

not sure about the letus.. but the price is quite low for the specs mentioned. Typical adaptors like Redrock n Brevis cost the range of USD1.5k man! ooch..

Previously, my opinion of letus was pretty low...but their new products are really something special. The preliminary reviews are all really positive, and this seems to be the best thing for adaptors since sliced bread! It has superb edge to edge sharpness, and has unnoticable grain up to a shutter of 1/160 apparently. Not to mention its lack of light loss, and the fact that it flips the image. I think the only thing that can compete with it at this price range is the sgpro, which is around 1.2k sing, and comes with rails - but its got about 1 stop of light loss and does not flip the image. Previously the sgpro was my favourite adaptor, until i heard about the new letus35 economy and extreme. Oh, and brevis is actually coming out with a flip unit at the end of this month..adds about half a stop of light loss i think? Not very sure about the cost, but from what i've heard its pretty modular, so it can be adapted to most adaptors, in case anyone who has a non-flip adaptor is interested. No idea about its specifics, but i'm assuming it'll need a set of rails to mount it on. But in any case, with reference to letus's new products, I think these would push me over the edge to finally purchase an adaptor, provided i can secure the funds...which is tough at 17. Anyone need an anything guy for weddings, etc? I shoot on a DVX102b and I've got 3 years of experience, with some of my stuff over here: www.wobblin.net :D:D (its all for a good cause...my letus economy fund!)

I do have the redrock m2 system for rent although it's a Nikon mount. System comes with follow focus, whips, rails and Nikon 50mm/f1.8 , 35mm/f2.0 and a Tilt/Shift 35mm/f2.8, LCD screen with 12v battery for monitoring are also included:

1 day = $150
2 days = $300
3 days = $400
4 days = $500
5 days = $600
6 days = $700
1 week = $800

I have used this in a feature film and various commercial work here and there. It's a great tool in getting that professional filmic look.

PM me if interested :)

rebel, will this fit on a Canon XL-H1 or an XH-A1? Very interested if it can fit one of these without having to find additional adaptors.

Actually, to be frank with you, I've only tried this on the Sony HC1 and Z1 because I only have access to these cameras. But I do know from the M2 website/forums that it is possible with both the XL-H1 and XH-A1.

I have the shims to do the adjustment accordingly, but you will have to consult other users on how to optimise it to your system, which frankly is not difficult at all.

Also note that I tried the 72mm and the 55mm achromatic lens, and I found, to my surprise that the 55mm had less chromatic aberration and a larger sweet spot. So now I only have the 55mm which I use on my Sony Z1 and HC1. I think forum members in the M2 site have noted this effect as well.

I will post some images that I've gotten with this system so far once I capture some screen shots.

I have output footage from this system to film for the feature which was selected for Cannes this year under the Un Certain Regard section, and frankly, maybe it's because it's the HDV camera I was using rather than the M2, but I felt that using the adaptor made it too soft for my liking, except maybe for one scene or two scenes. Then again, I'm very critical when things go soft on the bigscreen. However, for the digibeta and other formats like HDV, HD, DV and DVD, it looks great and really takes away the cheap video look.

Again, I will post images to show tomorrow to illustrate what I mean. However, you can look at the M2 website and youtube is replete with examples to show what M2 can do quite easily. I know another local filmmaker Gavin Lim from voiddeck films that has used this quite intensively on his shorts using a system that is similar to mine. Do a google and I think you can see clips of his stuff.

I do recommend that if you have the cash to buy this system from Redrock. I found it very useful on my productions, and help to cut cost esp. when clients want the prime lens look, yet have no budget, so they are pleasantly surprised when they see something that has quality and looks expensive. If not you can always rent from me to try it out and see whether it is worth your investment. There is the PS Technik Pro and Mini which you can rent from Cinegear in Tessensohn Rd, but they cost 1.2K and 700 per day respectively and need way more lights. I haven't used them, but I heard Gone SHopping used that system extensively and it looked great on that film.

Hope this helps!

I still think really highly of the letus 35 extreme though, mainly coz of the flip and lack of light loss whcih i mentioned earlier

wow Malcom, u r alr quite accomplished to own a DVX102b at 17.. when I was 17 I owned transitlink card ;)

Had the Letus 35 flip...badly made piece of equipment...light loss at least 2-3 stops

Let me know if anyone wants to play...Nikon mount

u r not talking about the extreme Malcom is talking about rite?
