Recommendation of a dolly track

For a while, I have been trying to take a curve video without much success, it video recording always goes up and down.

What you guys think of purchasing this track ?

Do you think it will work ?

But how do I purchase the wheels ? Or do I have to purchase a special tripod for this track ?

Thanks

Don't buy. Just rent the curved track MicroDolly from Camera Rental Centre.

in theory it works, but i doubt it will be good to be used where the ground isn't completely flat

it's good if used as a "guide rail" in a controlled shooting environment -- and can repeat the same move over and over again

i think you might be able to D-I-Y something suitable for your own requirements =)

Could you not do with a curved slider like the Redrock one man crew mark 2?

Hmmm.... Hard to say whether it will work without knowing much about what you want to achieve :)

Maybe you can describe the shot you're trying to achieve in greater detail. Provide more information about the project/context/setting/purpose/effect you are going for.

Depending on the actual setup, maybe you can get a similar effect with a stabilizer or a wheelchair dolly.

Yeah, if you really wanna go this route, you would have to buy the dolly too of course. The same shop you linked to sells a dolly with free tripod, lol. http://www.thecinecity.com/eshop/PROAIM-Swift-Dolly-System-with-12ft-Straight-Track.html

But I agree, unless you intend to use it a lot, don't waste money buying. Even if you're rich, don't forget you gotta store it somewhere also if you're not using it.

I think you are correct, may not work on a undulating ground ...

But this comes with a straight track ....

Yes storing is a problem too ... lotsa white elephants in my house now ... :bsmilie:

Yay! Ryan please get one of these! We can rent from you from time to time!

Hahaha ... Jace ... how much will this cost man ?

A more feasible solution will be a few of us share to buy this and we rent it out ... Hahaha ... :)

I actually felt like buying that before. see how :bsmilie:

I think among trusted friends and users, this may be a feasible idea. Haha.

I am currently renting a Sony a7s and some lenses from a fren. I think we can do this amongst friends on a slightly bigger scale. Haha

I do a lot of personal rentals as well, but only to close friends, and even then some of them don't know how to handle equipment properly, which is the one thing I'm most worried about.

As for the dolly, I think you really need to find out what is currently available on the market. There are so many choices that the features become the deciding factor.
