Recommendation for Prime Lens

Hi

I am looking for Prime Lens to take my 3 year old son with D600. Any recommendations?

50F1.4D, 50F1.8G or 85F1.8D?

Get the new 85 1.8G, beats the D hands down..

Over the past few years, 70-80% of all my shots on my kids were taken on the 50mm focal length (sigma, canon, nikon). Seriously, if got budget, just buy both the 50mm and 85mm. They are very very different in actual usage.

How is it the new G is better? 7 Blades leh.

Hows the colour comparing the two?

Actually the 35mm is a better match for the 85mm.

50mm and 85mm are a little too close.

50mm is affordable so just keep in dry cab ;p. Jokes aside, that 50mm G lens is a good value lens. I am surprised at the IQ given the amount I paid for it. Best bang for bucks and highly recommended as a must have lens for those using FF and have budget constraints.

On a side note, after the Sigma 35mm came out, all my other lenses suddenly become not so good, only use them because no choice (FL)... I am patiently waiting for Sigma to update their 20mm and 24mm to the Art version....I am foreseeing many more Sigma lenses in my arsenal down the road if they carry on the trend of producing high quality lenses at great prices. Thank you Sigma :D

24mm first please. The 85mm from Nikon is very good already, but if Sigma does make a 24mm f/1.4 with the same expectations on the 35mm f/1.4, then that's another expensive Nikon gold ring lens destroyed :p
