Hi, can anyone recommend me a printer that can print reasonably good quality photographs that will cost less than $200?? If little bit off the $200 also can ar.. Thanks in advance :)

Canon and Epson both have printers around that price range that can print reasonably good quality photos. These days the printers are so good that most of the consumer grade inkjet printers are acceptable for casual photo printing. Just go down to Sim Lim Square and see the sample printouts.

Wha.. Haha ok.. hmm, so it's safe to say that most of the recent canon models will be good enough for casual prints ar?? Cool! shall go take a look.. time to upgrade my Lexmark Z12!! :embrass:

I just bought a Canon i1450 for $169 at Comex. The normal price at SLS should be around $190. I printed photos on Sepoms Glossy Paper ( both the 150 and 220 weight ) and the results are very very good. This printer is 4800x1200 dpi, and the print is so fine that you cannot see any grain even if you bring the photo right up to your face. I showed the photos around in my workplace and at home, and everyone agreed that the quality was as good as commercial lab photos.

I did some quick research on the Internet before buying. The Canon booth at Comex was pushing the i470D, which is basically the same as the i450 except that it also has a card reader. According to review at Tom's Hardware, the 470's printout is inferior to the 450 even though they are both using the same print engine and print head. He included scans of several printers' printouts, and it was clear that the i450 (and the $350 i850) were the top of the heap in terms of quality, beating even the more expensive i550.

The i850 uses thinktanks and is much faster, but I didn't think it was worth double the price for this. Quality wise, they are identical.

Recently, Canon has also launched upgrades to their printers, and the i450 will be replaced by the i455, which includes PictBridge compatibility.

If you can wait a few months, wait for the i560. This one will be good. The quality and speed of the i850, using thinktanks, for the price of a i550 ( around $250 or so ). Think tanks will save you money in the long run if you print alot.

I'm also looking at using Sepoms ink, which are half the price of the original Canons. This will reduce your ink cost considerably.

yay! A more specific model! I shall go check this out! thanks you d00d :p

i got a canon S820 for my parents at a steal for $270... i think it dropped even further to $250 if there are any left. S800 at one point was $199 but i think all sold out.

We have 2 units of the above printer if you are still interested. Price is $220 nett.

Let me know if you are still interested.

What's the diff between the S-series and the i-series?? I mean the specs look similar ... =)
