A20 is old stuff already, canon has introduced the new a30 and a40 to replace a10 and a20. Perhaps you would like to wait for it's arrival :)

1.3Mp A30 replaces the 1.3MP A10 and 2.1MP A40 replaces the 2.1MP A40......almost same specs except that the newer DCs has manual controls over the exposure...making them a better choice if u r concern wif nite shots.

If the price is abt the same as current model....then these r gd DCs for almost all purposes.

Any idea how much the canon A40 would roughly cost when it arrives?

Nobody knows for sure as of now.....no pricing has been announced yet.

I reckon if the A40 is a replacemnet model for the A20, then the pricing between these 2 models shouldn't be too far off. I may be wrong though.

hmmz... seems tt there are some discrepancies over the suggested retail price of the new canon cameras... taken from http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/presscamera.html

"Suggested Retail Prices:
PowerShot A40 $ 399
PowerShot A30 TBA
PowerShot A100 $ 279
Card Photo Printer CP-100 $ 349

The PowerShot A40 will be available in March, A100 in April, and CP-100 in May." (prices shld be in US$ larz...)

aniwae, taken from most other camera review sites, such as http://www.steves-digicams.com/pr/canon_02222002_pr.html

"All Canon PowerShot cameras and Card Photo Printer CP-100 will be available at authorized retailers in the second quarter of 2002 and have the following suggested retail prices:

PowerShot A40 $ 299 Waterproof Case WP-DC200s $240
PowerShot A30 $ 249 Waterproof Case WP-DC400 $240
PowerShot A100 $ 179 Tele-Converter TC-DC52 $129
PowerShot G2 (Black Body) $ 899 Wide Converter WC-DC52 $ 99
Card Photo Printer CP-100 $ 249 Lens Conversion Adapter LA-DC52B $20 "

the difference in the price quoted is up to US$100.... blurz... :dunno: but either wae, the price still seems pretty affordable for a camera with manual controls.. hahaz.. :D :bsmilie:

well... we'll see the actual price when it's finally launched here.
