My friend has the above lens and before trying to sell it for him, I hope to get some feedback from the experts here as to what a reasonable RP should be.

The lens is in almost mint condition, with box, hood, covers etc. About 2 years old, I think. Thanks in advance for all the help.

for reference., I ever saw a second hand one selling in Hong Kong for around $1400..... but prices in singapore are generally a bit higher.

clive, mpenza - thanks for the quick response. I was thinking in the region of $1.5K as well. :)

There is 1 at TCW, 1350. Not too sure about the condition but from outside it seems ok. Generally 16-35s are going for about 1700-1900, so you can derive the approx selling price of the 17-35 from here.

I would not pay $1,500 for this lens. If I need the f2.8, I'd get the 16-35L which can be gotten 2nd hand at around $1,700-$1,900 or so.

According to a review in Luminous, http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/16-35.shtml the 16-35L has noticeably better optics and other features.

Optically, the 16-35 is much better wide open compared to the 17-35. The 16-35 is also slightly wider (1 mm is useful) and better built. Also, the 16-35 has a better minimal focusing distance of 0.28m against 0.42m

the most recent deal in HK is LESS than $900, too bad someone out bidded me :(

comparison seems to differ everywhere, some say 16-35L is better than 17-40L and 17-40L is better than 17-35L.
guess these lens are undoubtly very good, you hav to gauge yourself how much its worth to pay
