Quick Release Plate for Glidecam 4000Pro

Hi all Glidecam users

Can I ask what Quick Release Plate you have installed for your rig? I need it to enable easy and quick mount/dismount of my camera on my Glidecam and to move it to my tripod during the shoot.

I read the manual recommending Bogen 3273, is this a good gadget or is there better (Price and quality) option than this? Where can I possibly order these Quick Release Plate? Thanks and appreciate your help.

I think its the Manfrotto 377 or 577 QR adaptor. There are 2 - one's wider than the other so if you want the adaptor to be compatible with other Manfrotto plates you might have, be sure to check. I think you can also ask CSer eugenenp as I got mine from him. Orient photo should also have it.

I'll suggest that you buy the smallest Manfrotto RC2 (the squarish one). Or a similarly small one. This has the lowest weight, hence lowers your cam's CG. Snaps on in less than 1 sec. I switch between my glidecam and tripod in 1-2 secs. Its the cheapest too...
However you'll need to insert a spacer betweem the adapter and your glidecam to accomodate the bottom-protruding spring lock mechanism.


I've tried the manfrotto sliding adapter 577 before. It adds unnecessary weight and increases the height of my cam a lot. It will be difficult to slide the plate in too if your cam is bigger than the plate (i.e. you got to lift your heavy glidecam to your eye-level to slide it in). You won't need the sliding function anyway (unless you constantly add and take off equipment from your cam.

Bro, is your tripod from Manfrotto too? Am I correct to assume the quick release is the same one on the tripod mount?

Mine is a Manfrotto 519 head, the plate is the sliding type. Whenever I plan to switch around glidecam to tripod for a particular shoot, I'll attach a RC2 on the plate of my tripod. Since the RC2 is cheap. I got 2-3 pieces of it. The RC2 becomes my universal adapter between all my gears.
