My sister just gave me these cameras and a few lenses, they were found in her house.

They all seem to be working ok but the prints appear to be dull and not to lively.

Whats wrong with it? I have only been shooting with the srt201 with a 50mm lense. Im going to use the sr-7 with the next roll and see if its the camera. Which camera is better for a slr beginner?

ahahaha, im such a smooch, The battery was dead:bsmilie:

is that a possibility of why they are not very crisp?

Whoa, the camera could as old as me (manufactured 1962-1966). Looks like it’s in pristine condition. Congratulations!

The photo seems to be underexposed but pushed during the developing process.

The SR-T 201 should have more features than the SR-7 that would be helpful to a beginner. But as with all manual cameras, it would involve more efforts and a stepper learning curve. But that’s the fun part isn’t it?

Enjoy your new toy! And do show us some photos for all the diehard fans of Minolta.:)

thanks, will do ;)

I'm about to go pick up the new prints with new batteries installed :D

 CVS's photo lab sucks:thumbsd: :thumbsd:

they have a 1hr guarantee and I dropped them off a 5, and went back at 7:50. They said they will not be done until tomorrow:angry:

hmmm,

I like the original photo better. Look more classic...

yay! I got the new prints, sooo much better

but im only getting 18/24 photos back?

and 2 of them have this weirdness to them?

again my scanner is awful they look a lot better on the prints

On the third photo, looks like there are some stretches on the negative. And the forth could be due to the shuttle curtain intermittent movement.

After all, if the camera is kept for 40 years, I think it would need some oiling….

I just got some new prints back, using kodak 200 gold. Much better, and walmart processing is soooo much better than cvs:)

Hi eld4au6, welcome to Clubsnap SG!

Your vintage minoltas appear to be in very nice conditions! Make me really envious. I am still waiting for my srT 101 which I won in eBay to arrive.

Enjoy your new toys!

yeah they are in very good condition, except the sr-7 has been dropped or something:bheart: . I believe it still works but I have only used the srt-201.

Here are some of the newer pictures

could you get your lab to scan them direct from the negs... maybe it'll appear better on screen?

Hello eld4au6

The camera's fine... it's your exposure that is a little off... a little overexposed... I guess that's the thing with a manual film camera... u've got to choose your focus... also u're shooting at a time of the day when the sunlight is very harsh... it tends to desaturate your shots and it looks rather washed out. All the shots with the dogs are overexposed with very low contrast. If u can use PS to up the contrast and pull down the highlights using the curves or highlights/shadow tool, it would look much better...

And nsalman is right, get the lab to scan to digital directly... their scanner is better and higher resolution but u need a pro lab or some lab with the facility and can do it well - takes a bit of money and asking around in the dpreview forums (cos u're in the US) as well as trying out before u find a lab that u like... also if u scan directly, maybe it is good if u tell them to scan without any compensation or adjustment for one roll so that u know what u are taking... and then ask them to rescan the same roll with adjustments...

And don't use Kodak for outdoor scenery... it's very prone to underexposure or overexposure... and it tends to look rather washed out when the sunlight is very harsh... try Fuji Superia 200, your shots will start looking like postcards if u develop it in a lab using a Fuji Frontier machine... that is if u want prints.

Wow.. classic camera!!

It difficult to identify the problem using negative, since the problem can occur along line from shooting, film development, print or scan. How about some slides films?
