Question on Darkroom Equipment, enlarger and etc

I'm contemplating doing B & W prints at home. One major equipment required is the enlarger and I have my eyes set on a Durst in eBay. My question, other than the occasional up for sell on the B&S, anywhere else can I can acquire the enlarger and other darkroom equip like the timer and etc.? Since most of the enlargers especially those hobbyist model are long ago out of production, would getting replacement part like the enlarger bulb be a big problem now?

I have 2 days to decide to go ahead with the bid, but if I have problem getting spare parts would be a waste of effort. Would appreciate some inputs on this and if anyone wants to let go a working enlarger, do PM me your offer before the 2 days up. Thanks!

visit this interesting company Seng Cheong at Middle Road #04-01/021 I C B Enterprise Hse Singapore 188972. thy still sell new darkroom equipment & accessories. Of course it will be at NEW IN BOX prices. i last bought a safe light from them for $40+ 2 months back.

You might want to post a WTB post in the classifieds here to try to get a complete darkroom set at better prices. I guess some folks still have their wet darkroom stored in some dark corner of their house.

Alternatively just join Losheng or SAFRA community darkroom.

I think Ruby still has meopta enlargers available. These are pretty good units! I bought one more than a decades ago and they are still going strong!

You can also get in touch with Mr. PK Chan, the local Kaiser agent. Kaiser enlargers are nicer made than the meopta ones.

And of course Seng Chong - the Japanese made LPL enlargers are fantastic! I would love to get that last piece of 4500

Wow ..thanks for all the replies..didn't know that there are still a couple of places left to get the enlarger. I'm still contemplating, the matter on hand now is how invincible can I make the photo lab? Space is a constrain so this means "my lab" will need to be highly portable and easily store away when not in use so as not to irk the wife... I will give the ebay listing a pass, since I can get the item locally .. didn't think the freight charges of USD95 is worth the trouble for a USD55 enlarger!

Well, depending on what comes with the ebay listing. A brand new Meopta enlarger set, I remember was probably in the region of $600? That's not including lens. Used copies of top-of-the-line Schneider Componon S 50mm or 80mm will set you back by another USD50 or so each. Also, there are various negative carriers - with and without glass, 135 and 120, etc. Then you'll also need a safe light, and a timer. So sometimes you can get a fantastic deal by going with a used copy if it comes everything thing.
