Hi all... been wanting to ask these two questions but just do not know how to phrase it... only took up shooting with dc for less than 7 months..

when you guys shoot... what format do you shoot in? er jpeg, raw+jpeg, raw and what size?
I want to know so that I could shoot appropriately to potentially print a 8 x 12...

and to the brudders who are using the 7d.. or other camera that gas similar features... how do you lock the focussing spot? The red dot that you see in the viewfinder. I'm more comfortable shooting with the red spot in the center and then moving my camera... but somehow or another the red spot always moved to the side, bottom or top... and when this occurs, I have to press the af button to centralise it...Too troublesome..

Thanks..

i shoot only in jpeg, RAW only for fun cos i'm a lazy ass. dun like to do heavy post-processing. but i do a little post-psocessing like sharpen, adjust white balance, etc. minor stuffs.

to lock the AF points, like what you do, press the center button and switch to lock mode. you see the 9 white dots that form a rectangle, then there's a LOCK, switch to that.

define post processing for me...

this is my idea of processing..
shoot, view on laptop, choose which to print, and send to lab...

would raw then be a factor for me...sigh..

and drud, thanks for the tip... I tot I've tried that way but the "AF points" (getting very technical) seems to run about too...let me try again and if this still does not work, I need to send it in?

The plastic cover that covers the LCD, is this being sold separately? Coz I did not get mine and the blue lcd sticker is still on..

Thanks

post-processing is adjusting a photo's properties, such as colour, brightness, tones, etc.. to suit your pre-defined result.

raw files are huge for the 7D, which is approx double of the jpeg in its highest resolution and details (eg: 6megapixels in 3000x2000pixels, in extra fine mode). it is able to retain individual pixel information and therefore has higher chances of getting back details of a photo in event of under/over-exposure, but not 100%.

since file size of raw files for 7D is approx double of jpeg, it will take approx double the time to write into the CF card.

pls retry that function, when it is in LOCK position, pressing the AF position button should not change the AF points. otherwise, you'll have to send it for servicing.

the plastic LCD protector comes with the package which is stated clearly in the manual. you should go back to the shop you buy from to get replacement.

ah... something like csi...
o.k so for my kind of post processing... does not really matter huhh...
been shooting L fine..

well, if you're happy with your photos, then post-processing is not needed.

bought during the camera fair... quite long ago... actually don't know that there was one until I met sulhan at bot gard...

do join our monthly gathering if you're free. :)

Hee... you must first flip the switch Drudkh mentioned to the manual select mode (the one with the 9 squres thingy), select the center AF point (hitting the middle button on the controller) then lock the AF point.

If you nv select the point manually first, you could still be on automatic AF selection, which will lead the the AF point 'jumping all over the place'.
