Looking for a pool of professional videographers/DPs to keep as contacts so that I can sub out work if necessary..

Requirements :
- Must have done event videography or filmed for TV productions (eg. interviews, drama, reality programs.)
- Must have own 'broadcast' quality 3CCD cameras (at least Sony DVCAM PD-X10/PD150 or better, Panasonic DXV102 or better, or Canon XL1 or better.)
- Preferably have own 3 point basic lighting kits of at least 500w each.
- preferably have their own lav(clip) mics, boom and hand mics for interviews, or even better if you have a soundman that you regularly work with..

Please send me an email stating your equipment list, work experience, and price for 1 day shoot & half-day shoots on basic event-styled shoot...(ie. just camera & operator)
If project requires lighting kits or more complex audio requirements, I will definitely offer a better price accordingly.

You can reach me at dixon_AT_dxnmedia.net
Thanks.

hi DXNMedia,
Sorry, Off thread abit.. U got your BA thru which institute? Which patch?
Me thru SAE.. BA (Hon) Digital Film (UK) Patch BA1003.. ;)

Ah... because I learnt on-the-job, I have no professional qualifications in videography or filmography... can only satisfy requirement one (lost count on them)... but don't mind lending an extra pair of hands when help is needed (don't pay me... I just come to 'look see, look see'). Just pm me for my contact :)

Good to start a contact list... should I someday decide to produce my David Attenborough style of documentary on local flora and fauna (my degree is in Education, majoring in Biology... also planning to take a second degree in Genetics, if I have the time), I know where to get the contacts ;)

My deg was thru SAE as well, but because I have Dip from Ngee Ann, i managed to skip thru the bulk of the dip course offered by SAE.....a degree is nothing in our industry...it's the experience that counts........but somehow it opens door to be lecturers when you're sick of the industry....ehhehehehehehe... ;D

Frankly, i dun even remember my batch coz I took the deg as a part time course when i was doing freelancing here and there....probably completed in 2002.

We gotta meet up and bitch about the industry some day... ;p

well, my skills so so oni.. think DXNMedia has altho shorther but a much better exposure in the industry then me. sometimes it really depends on what u exposed to n not oni how long u exposed to.. :dunno:

Anyway here's my contact .. http://sg.geocities.com/pixelabproductions/services.html

Oh yes, my purpose of getting a pool of professionals in the industry is mainly to see if it's worthwhile setting up a society or something similar to protect the interest of fellow media practitioners....something that i've been wanting to do, but no time to work on it.

And of course, to sub out work when i cannot handle the workflow.

Though I am trained in most of the field related to film/video/sound, my main specialisation is in video post & audio, and I always believe that i should sub out my filming job to people who have more experience.

I don't wanna be the "I-can-do-it-all", jack-of-all-trade but master of none fella.. :nono:

Well, to give a bit of history, I was doing photography with influence from my dad since I was in secondary school in the mid 90s era....i moved on to doing wedding videos as a starter and tot that i should pursue a career in Film/Sound/TV, so i gave up my electronics diploma studies and went to Ngee Ann's film school....

so if you say experience in handling video, I should have about 10 yrs of it since S-VHS days... ;p

Hmm... maybe we could work something out. My company has lots of experience in handling many of these projects. Contact my Snr Director: sales@s3communications.com.sg

wow dxon, your doing very well for yourself ! thats fabulous

brilliant of you to offer opportunities to others in here too

salute!

Thanks....

TV is always a collaborative effort, and I believe in getting the right people to do the right jobs....I'm sure one would go to a Doctor when you need medical attention, go to a lawyer when you need legal advise, etc....

Likewise, given this mentality since i specialise in post, i do hope that if I can recommend filming jobs out to others, I would expect that I can be recommended post production jobs in return.. ;)

Sure, i am open to that...

email me for further details....As a freelance, there are times when I can only handle so much jobs in a day/week/month.....unless I clone myself, there's always a limit in that I can do..... ;)

Keeping a wide network is always good!

Just an idea. any chance of doing a gathering for the videographer in Singapore.
as i hope that the full time videographer should come together for networking session.

That will be great.....I will organise it, but you'd be looking at a date towards mid Feb.
So all the video professionals out there, pls prep your namecards. :D

Meanwhile, wishing everyone a Happy New 2007.
Earn more money, buy more gears. ;p
