Hi hi,

I am currently facing a few problems with the “making movie” process.

I am using Windows XP, Pinnacle Studio 9….

The problems are:

1) Using Mpeg, the estimate file size and the end-point file size does not tally, in the end, the file is often larger than the estimate…

2) When I try to make it in an Avi format, I noticed using different compression codec gives different estimate file size… which codec should I use so that it can be played in most PCs or even burned as DVD disc?

3) When I try to make it in an Avi format, using one compression codec, the rendering process freezes at about 21 mins and when I abort the process the whole program hangs “Not Responding”. And when using another compression codec that gives a smaller estimate file size), the rendering process is so slow that after left to render over night only less then 10mins of the movie is processed.

Are there anything I can do to solve these problems especially #3?

Please note, I’m quite a newbie in this and am not really that tech savy…. Please excuse my ignorance….

Hmm studio 9 was a nightmare for me. Its not stable. Maybe u could try to patch the software with the patches first for increased stability? Pinnacle stud 9 also is a resource hog. I had to end most background process to make it work on my p4 2.4ghz 1gb ram machine abielt with a processing time of 1 day plus for a 1 hr video into mpeg2 format.

hi hi,

yes i also noticed how it is better to not touch the pc while Studio is rendering...

1h video takes abt 1 day?! wow then i gotta let it run for 2days le... problem is, it always gets stuck somewherer and/or the PC hangs!!! how?

btw is it better to do an avi file or a mpeg2 file?

I noticed the bigger the file the bigger the problem. I may have the studio 10 upgrade somewhere u want it? can give it to u since i lost my studio 9 disc. :)

Ulead is much stabler. Maybe u should try adobe premiere as it is becoming a common application used by video people.

but encoding quality are not decent enough.Go for vegas movie studio or adobe cs3 series got one of the bundles that includes all software for video production. For video editing always go for the best. you will not have too much issues.
