Hello ladies and gentlemen.

In preparation for the coming IR portrait outing, both SereneXMM and I tested out our settings this morning:

  • 20D mod R72 with EF 70-200mm f/2.8 MkII
  • 20D mod ELP with EF 70-200mm f/2.8 (MkI)
20D mod R72 with EF 70-200mm f/2.8 MkII
Here is the 20D mod R72 with EF 70-200mm f/2.8 MkII.
At f/2.8. Quite clean.

At f/6.3. Wah lau... hot spot as expected.

As I have mentioned earlier in one of the threads, I feel (personally. I might be wrong.) that perhaps the Hoya R72 filter may be more prone.
We will see how SereneXMM's 20D ELP does with the 70-200mm f/2.8 Mk I.
Will post it up when we have processed the photos.

One more with the 20D 70-200mm f/2.8 II at f/2.8.
Not really up to standard in terms of skin tone PP.
Would definitely appreciate advice from all my good brothers here.
Honestly, at f/2.8... if I say there is no hot spot, I am telling a lie... keke...

SereneXMM that one just channel swapped only.
The eye not really in focus... could have been sharper.
The muscle and the NEx5 is in focus.
At f/2.8... I think no hotspot seen on the 20D ELP with 70-200mm f/2.8 MkI.

50mmf1.4 n 85mmf1.8 is good for 20d-elp filter for ppl

Hey Davidkow!
Good to have you here.
Eh... I have used 50mm f/1.4 before and it gave me hot spot like nobody's business on my 20D R72.
But you have given me new hope because you said ELP. We are going to give my 50mm f/1.4 a try on SereneXMM's ELP.
Thanks, man!

Good preparations for the shoot, practice make perfect.

In the same outing, I am planning to bring Nikon 85mm f/1.4D and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII. Anyone knows if these 2 lens will give hot spots? Don't have time to test. If so, I will fall back to 18-200 VRI, which so far does well in terms of not showing any hot spots.

Bro Limwhow, I have hotspot on my Mod D70 with 70-200 f2.8 too and certain angle of the sun...

Thank you for your advice, airforce1.

Hmmm... tough question, you are using the Nikkon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR I. But you know, shelomoh, iVintage (as below) uses the VR I too...
See below.

I see, your that white VR I, right?

Yes yes On my That VR I lol... Images are very sharp with a spot but not on all images i took only some, and of the some they were good shots...

bro limwhow, what's the WB you used in your "ladies at the botanic" shot? i think with a proper WB preset, a good skintone can be achieved.

I used the customised WB at 2500.
