Premiere Pro Project File Becomes Larger with Each Save

Hi guys,

I have a problem here which you may have an answer to.

I recently tried to save a premiere pro file and what was originally less than 10Mb became 500Mb plus and just tried saving again and it increased to 2Gb plus this time. I've closed my project file to prevent it from growing larger again.

I've looked into my auto-save folder but all the auto-save are now the 500Mb plus versions..

And whenever I tried to save the project, it takes about 2 to 3 minutes to complete the saving. I suspect that was when the project got bigger. But why does it become bigger and bigger with each save? That's my point. :dunno:

Anyone has any idea what is happening and what can I do to rememdy?

Everytime you save, you probably would have done some edits etc. Add some effects etc. All these adds up considerably. You might want to try to limit your video in 10min chunks so that it is manageable. Also you didn't mention whether you're editing SD or HD videos.

You're referring to the *.prproj file?
I work with premiere pro only when I have no choice but from what I remember based on the earlier versions of premiere pro, There is an option to split files into segments smaller than 4gb or something (targeted at FAT32 users). I cant remember exactly how to do it, coz i'm currently using Sony vegas and it has been serving me really well. The only problem is when I have to use after effects and I cant export directly to PP easily...
