just went to pick a product at pansonic service center.
i must agree that they produce very good camcorder.
one thing, that panasonic is not good at is
customer service.
i got to wait for 15mins plus just to get my call answer.
when i finally get though i realised that my item was ready for collection
and i was not even inform.
i think pansonic should look into their after sale service.
Make people think twice about buying their product.
hope they can separate their customer service for professional and consumer.

If you think Panasonic is bad, wait till you go to Sony. I guarantee that you will vomit blood.

You mean Sony Professional or what? I bought a spare part from Sony service centre in Orchard and it was very smooth.

So far I had no problem with Sony service centre at Wisma Atria. I sent my camera there twice and got my camera back in a few days. I think there service centre is pretty good.

i have to agree that sony provide better services.
no wonder they are doing better, despite their average technology

My experience with Sony Professional is far less positive. I sent a PD 170 in for replacement of an audio part and it took over 6 weeks for them to get it fixed because they did not have the part and had to wait for it to be shipped over. Apparently there have been others who've had to wait longer than me when parts are unavailable. Fortunately I wasn't in need of the camera for that time. Otherwise if I depended on it to make a living, susa liao!

Understand your situation. Just wish that Pansonic got much accessories as sony.
lighting, lense, harddisk solution...
Parts i am not too sure. but i think Pansonic can improve on accessories for their
products. For technology, i think they are on par with sony, just in different focus.

Have no problem with Sony service centre for more than 5 times of visit though.

I think the best service a CE mfr can provide consumers is not to have us go to their service centre.:)

dont complaint small things lar...
I called IRAS to pay them money but was asked to hold the line for 20 minutes!
during this time cannot even go toilet, haha

Not sure how long you used Sony stuff and services. I had use seven years of Sony's services and Panasonic for the last four years. Last few years when our PD150 start having white balance, iris and focusing problem and was sent to Sony for repair. Each time, each problem, we have to send in more than two times for the problem to be rectify. Intial times we sent the PD150 in and was told that it had no problem despite our account of how the problem was apparent. Each time, it took more than 3-4 week with us calling them constantly. Lucky, we have more than one PD150. Each time, we told there was no problem, we never saw the engineer.

My last four years was with Panasonic. Each time it took only 1-3day for the engineer to call me explaining the problem and cost of repair. Most of the time the engineer came out personally and explain to me personally to explain how and why. Usually repair took one week to two.

Sony Pro section has no relation with their consumer sect. Yes Sony Pro sucks. That's why we switched to Panasonic 2 years ago.

Panasonic! Panasonic! Panasonic! rule 4 DVs but not broadcast......... hehehehe

Pana after service is ok la, i would e-mail them and the next day i would get a call from them to check on the situation, if i can handle then case close, if not then bring it down.... for me

Hmmm....So far I had no problem with Panasonic and Sony which I have been using since 1999. Sometimes when we send in our cams we have to tell them that its urgent or what we expect from them and they will do the best for us. So far they will call me to give an estimate cost of repair and even SMS me to notify me that my cams are ready for collection.

My worst experience was JVC:thumbsd: . The svc center is in the middle of "ulu" ubi with only a few buses in reach and the service staff are as if they are working in some third world country or something; take their own sweet time and "bor chap" attitude.Worst is the cam was under warranty I had to sent in 4 times until they replaced me a new set shipped in from Japan...now even the replacement set is not working in less than 1 year  ...I gave up on JVC products.....

no problem with Pana when i send my video CR for service @ bukit merah.

quite prompt service.
