Hiee....

Here is one observation to share after using the A1.

Yes, the camera is now smaller in size as the Battery compartment (7 series)for the AA batteries is now removed - as the A1 now uses the lithium-Ion Battery housed at the grip.

BUT!! Due to this down size, the Flower-Hood when installed will not allow the camera to sit on its own flat on the table. The lens block will be resting on the bottom of the hood... However, if the vertical grip is used, this problem is not experienced.

This will risk scratching the hood or even stress the lens block (and who knows may effect the lens block) especially if you have a 5600Hs or 3600HS on board.

Just be caution.......

One tip to work around this problem is to leave your quick release shoe of your tripod on...so as to act as a "feet" for the camera to stand on...

Thanks for the heads-up, yo.

If anyone remembers my posts in this Minolta section, I have great problems with my 7Hi overheating.

Could you (or anyone else) share any experience of the A1 under these usage conditions:

- Max resolution
- Continuous operation for at least 15-30mins
- Outdoors under typical S'pore sunny conditions.
- Both static and dynamic subjects.

Does CF card and camera get (very) hot?
Does camera lock-up with "err"?

TIA.

Hiee ...

Used it on one full charge...sofar....no "over heating".
Looks like they have used a new power efficient Asic - Thats what they claimed.
Used it with and without the anti-shake and let the LCD on all the
time and only feel warm.

I have no experienced with the 7Hi....at prolong usage....so can't compare
however...based on the few sessions using the 7hi from friends....
the 7Hi seem to get hot.......

:dunno:

No problem as well after 1 hour of playing around and hundreds of photo. Many on contineous mode. Tried with 1Gb Ridata, 512Mb Ridata and 1Gb IBM Microdrive. All media are only warm after usage. In fact I also do not experience problem with my 7i which only are slightly warmer after use.

I was following the A1 threads until something came to my mind:

Does this camera do WIRELESS flash with the 5600/5400/3600 flash guns the same way as the dynax 7/9?

If I decide to take the plunge, this will be important for me.
Thanks in advance
