I thought the thread "Photos we loved" is a very good idea to showcase all the wonderful works.

But seem like only "Photos that rty and wolfgang loved" are being mentioned.. Can the others "vote" too?

Hi,

that particular thread is meant for the moderators of that particular sub-forums to highlight the photos we love. However, the thread is locked to ensure that no OT takes place since it is strictly meant for us to highlight or to showcase photos. :)

Understand.. Maybe it will be better if the member can pm u or write it somewhere (on the thread that the pic is posted, maybe) to highlight the pic that they loved.

Not sure if it's too much to request for all sub gallery forum to have 1 thread of this nature.

Why not we let this thread go on a little while and see the reactions from the members. There are pro and cons to this type of thread .... i would, IMO, feel that there are more cons here as it appears a little "dictatorial" and lack that communal feel and after a couple of clicks I have given up that thread as it seems to be only the choice of a few mods instead of the rest of the members.
However it would work wonder if the 2 "self-crowned" Mods are to give more C&C, and giving more serious and detailed analysis on each image so that many of us would be keen to understand and appreciate their choices .....:dunno:

I like this word "Dictatorial". It rhymes well and most importantly it is the nutshell of what exactly you have in mind. Let me share my thoughts though. I am not sure if I can put the idea across but allow me to try anyway. The sticky thread called "Photos we love" is to show which of the posted photos that we fall in love with. You might disagree with me, but the way I see, love is something personal, intimate, and subjective. In a way, you are right that the decision on what or who we fall in love with can be deemed as something "dictatorial" or maybe "unilateral" but is it necessary to be "democratic" to be in love with anyone or anything? Aren't we all "dictators" or "unilateral" when it comes to love? Alright, I may be wrong. Some may need to seek approval from their parents... but... come on... these are just photos that we fall in love with...

"Self crowned" moderators? Wow... The thread is actually to replace the old sticky thread called "Post your best shots here" in which every member can select his/her own photo which he/she thinks is THE best. We think it would be more fun to have other people judge our own photo, hence, the thread "Photos we love" is proposed, but I think you see it differently and don't like the idea. Anyway, that's fine. In due time, it may be removed if we have overwhelming unfavorable responses.

As for the voting, why would we want others to vote for whom/what we should love? Sure we can consider the idea but that would be creating another sticky thread but voting should not be in a thread called "Photos we love". Do you agree? :)

Actually I have nothing against rty and wolfgang posting the photos that they loved.

I am just asking it to be expanded to all members.

The original thread "Post your best shot here" is not good as it's their personal works.

I would like to see more of those "Hey, I like robert's pic and i think it should be mentioned". More of members nominating pic that are not their own but posted by fellow members.

If it evolved to a "Best pic of the week" kind of thread.. Even better.

Just a suggestion.. Hope I am on the right thinking track.

Hi Bin,

Thank you for suggestions. In fact, there is nothing to stop the members themselves putting a thread together to highlight their own favourite works. This will only bode well for the community. However, my only fear is that it will attract a lot of OTs or disagreement regarding choices made. Having said that, i wouldn't mind one being started but we do reserve the right to step in, moderate or even close the thread should things get out of hand. :)

Thank you.

Alright..

Members can start such ownbut it might be too messy if everyone wanna start their own thread... haa haa..

If we post a thread linking to members pic. Not consider stealing right? :p Of cos, must given due recognition.

actually i would prefer a thread of "My favorite picture of other forumers", with direct linking of the image (so that one can see all the pictures once loaded, instead of having to click for each picture) and with accreditation and link to the original posting. the only issue is how sticky is one when he posted his picture in his thread in clubsnap but doesn't want his picture to be posted by others in another favourites thread accreditated to him.

posting one's favorite picture from other forumers is probably better than posting one's favorite picture from his own library, becos not everyone's own best is good.

so far, the "favorite" threads are doing fine and not OT, and forewords about minimal or no discussion does get obeyed. however i do agree with Wolfgang with regards to not proceeding with the "best pic" threads, as disagreement can occur.
