marcus, thanks for the id. these pupas like all over the place. some even hanged onto the fish net fencing.

@seefei,
yup it was in a empty beehoon plastic bag.. lol, didnt have my gears as this was caugh in my gf's garden..

@marcus,
thanks for the encouragement. i think the mild shadows was due to the plastic bag as the flash was popped above the whole bag while half of the lens was inside the bag..

however, generally i think there's still a lack of detail. anyone knows why?

So many wonderful macros shot posted here. I'm a newbie to macro but thanks for all the inspirations here, i took my step slowly on a slow subject pointed out by Fengwei...haha
Still got a lot to learn.

Extension tubes + SMC Takumar 50mm + Flash difuser softbox.
I also added a bit of warm to the overall photo with an intended soft vignette.

finding bugs to shoot is always a challenge. looking for a 2mm bug in a park is not really a walk in the park :bsmilie: patience and endurance is important. shoot more & post more.

Found this chap today while birding. ;p

burung pipit

did some birding during my last holiday in malaysia. found the f*300 too short, hence shelf the "birding" idea for some other day. :nono:

got this one and only one can make it shot to show. shot heavily cropped, denoised and sharpened.

Exactly seefei, the challenge is to hunt for them.

repeat of amk park outing? all buddies shooting one poor JS?

Of course, he's the highlight of the day mah.

one extension tube + SMC Takumar 50/1.4 + Raynox 250 + some cropping

Change the hue of the leaf, not sure if it looks too weird...

very good attempt. you have learned fast. there is some bushes near to the lily pond where you can find a lot of bugs. i found my "tumbling flower beetle" there. too bad the angle is not ideal.
