...one test shot...

gorgeous to my eyes.

i am a little surprise by the build. it is not as tough as i thought it should be.

Nice lens.
Had one that was 6bit coded but sold it. Still have an extra mounting flange milled with recesses for 6bit coding available. This flange was ordered from Germany, flew to USA to get it milled & back to Singapore!:)
i heard about the low distortion and that is why i get this lens!:)

Both 21mm lenses have low distortion, but the f4.5 is the legend in this department.

f4.5 may not be able to change mounting flange yourself as it is linked to focussing helicoid. That's if you want to code for M8.

A J uses RD1(s) and film camera.

It's quite well built but just feel different from Leica.
Reason I sold mine as I prefer the Leica feel. Even sold my black anodised Leica 21mm to get the SOLID chrome Leica feel:lovegrin:

I have an unsafe feeling mounting a silver lens on my camera. Feels like it would rip off the mounting ring if there's impact of some kind. Doesn't the weight put too much strain on the mount?

I think it's perfectly safe. Leica lenses originally all brass-chrome, black painted. Anodised aluminium is newer material-easier to work on & manufacture; maybe also cheaper to manufacture. They are slowly discontinueing chrome lenses. Only chrome lenses currently in production are the 50mm. They have discontinued chrome 21asph, 24asph, 35asph(most recently). Only chrome lenses left are cron50, Lux50asph. Elmar50(both chrome & black) discontinued. Chrome Elm90macro not sure if discontinued.
