usually go by inches.

4R - 4" x 6"
5R - 5" x 7"
6R - 6" x 9" (FULL FRAME)
8R - 8" x 12"(8RW/S8R) or 8" x 10" (8R)
12R - 12" x 16" or 12" x 18"(FULL FRAME)

photo labs usually take inches. commercial printinf lab goes by mm

3R is 3 inch by 4 inch if im not wrong.
one inch = 2.5cm
30cm = 12 inch
40cm = 16inch
50cm = 20inch

so...30cmx40cm=12"x16" ie should be 12R?
and 40cmx50cm= 16"x20" ie should be 16R?

:think:

yap. but all the above are not full frame. u may have to crop off your pictures.

3R -3" x 5"

full frame for:
12R - 12" x 18"
16R - 16" x 24"

usually photo labs don't do such BIG prints. if not worng, most lab does up to 10" x 15" ONLY. commercial printer do ALL type of sizes... price are variable...

3R is 3½ inches by 5 inches..

So say I have a high res digi photo and I wanna frame it for printing for 4R, I should "cut" it into how many pixel by how many pixel ah?

u should set the ratio to 3:2 for 4R size.
dat means the size must be something like 300:200 pixel or 360:240..
easier way is to use photoshop and select the marquee toolon the left,usually the top left option,then right on top there is an option called constrained ratio,select that one and set it to 3:2 then u can begin cropping the photo..
did i confuse u ?
