Guys,
A picture is still the same picture whichever forum it is placed in.
The forum definitions can be ambiguous, because there can be so many ways to classify photos, just like there can be so many ways to arrange things in a house, and there isn't a best way to do this. That's why moderators are here. We are not here to just execute some robotic operations of moving posts around based on a clearly defined set of rules. We, on many occassions, have to make decisions based on our own judgements.
Suppose I take a closeup picture of the eye of a chameleon with a reflection of a little girl in the pupils at the San Diego Zoo while I was on a tour. I can arguably put this picture in "Travel", "Nature", "Close-up", or even "Abstracts". So no matter how the sub-forums are defined, there will always be ambiguous cases.
Please don't feel offended when your post gets moved from one sub-forum to another because the moderator has a different interpretation of the forum definition than you have.
CS is still evolving, and we are constantly looking for ways to run things better here. Believe me, the CS administration has put in a lot of thought to define the different subforums so that it can be most effective for all.
Things can go both ways here. Either pet pictures be accepted in the "Portraits" sub-forum or we can modify the forum definition so that "Portraits" is for humans only and "Nature" be expanded to include pets and animals in captivity.
Either way,
your picture is still the same picture, which I feel should be the real focus here. So please bear with the vague or incorrect definitions for the time being. Like I said, CS is still evolving, and we definitely welcome suggestions and feedback on how we can do things better.
Let's not turn this into a debate and waste anymore energy on something that will not get us anywhere or improve our photography skills.
Thank you for your understanding.
