unlike M43, BMPCC sensor is so small that cctv lenses produce no vignetting !

Suddenly I see so many thread selling BMCC this week. Something fishy going on?

OK some serious questions. Just found out metabones has released an adaptor for Nikon G lenses. Does that mean I can use all or most of my Nikon DSLR lens on the BMCC including zoom lenses such as 70-200mm and 70-300mm? Any idea would G lenses with macro work like on a DSLR. BTW I only use my DSLR for still images because my D300 does not take moving pictures. I think mine are mostly DX lenses.

I am not sure abt yr Nikon lenses questions but abt BMCC, people says the battery life is a bit too short? Apart from that, the review has been great?!

Metabones has announced 2 new specialty speedboosters for BMCC MFT and BMPCC to compensate for the smaller-than 4/3 sensor.
The new crop factor reduction is 0.64 and 0.58 respectively. So make sure you buy the new ones to get maximum fstop boost and crop factor reduction.

This is great. Looks like I will be able to use almost all my existing lens. The metabones adaptor is almost already half the price of the BMPCC. Several extra batteries and it all adds up. Still it sure beats having to cough up for new sets of lenses.

Considering the 1.6 f-stop boost on your nikon lenses, it's like upgrading your entire lens collection for the price of one lens.

Happy owner of a bmpcc and a 35 f1.7 cctv lens. I've a Computar 12.5-75mm f1.2 zoom that should be reaching SG anytime soon. Gonna post some samples up soon. Cheers

Looking forward to your videos! 12.5 - 75mm is equivalent to 36-216mm f1.2 OMG!!!

Can you share the battery performance?

Not sure about the battery performance of BMPCC but on my BMCC the battery lasts for about 2 hours. With the swiftronic external battery i can use it for at least 6 hours before switching to the internal battery, more then enough for a full day shoot.

battery performance is pretty ok by my standards (I came from an NEX 6 so it wasn't that steep a drop in lifespan...) that said I have paid a visit to blackmarket camera to get my hands on 3 additional 3rd party batteries from them. They're quite cheap too, think it was around 18 bucks or so and they're of a higher capacity than the original bmd battery.

Well, I finally got the lens. But very very disappointed at myself for getting the slightly cheaper one on offer at ebay. Turns out, this one requires modification to focus well. The rear diameter is too fat/long so you'll need to machine off a little bit of it to focus nicely. NOOOOO

Thanks for the warning. You sure it's not the adapter? That's the usual suspect.

well, the same adaptor works fine for my 35mm f1.7 Fujian cctv. I've compared the entry for both lenses and the computer does get stuck before the screw portion actually enters.

I'll probably just order a 2nd one, modified this time.

One more clarification from me regarding the metabones crop factors.
The metabones adaptor for BMPCC should only be used for the BMPCC whereas the BMCC can be used for both BMCC and BMPCC at the expense of 0.18X crop factor (1.93X on the BMCC versus 1.75X on the BMPCC).

USD489 is a lot to pay for an adaptor so would it then make more sense then to go for the BMCC adaptor since they both cost the same? Would the 0.18X crop factor make any big difference in videography?

I know that application is subjective but I always appreciate expert opinions.

@mysilentkaopei, just curious which adaptor are you using? Hope to see your video samples soon :-)

BTW, Happy 2014 to all the bros here ;)

at the bottom of the page you'll see a comparison of crop factors and stuff. all in all, get the bmpcc version for the bmpcc. bmcc version for the bmcc. using the bmcc version on the bmpcc will give you a shitter crop on the bmpcc, of course that's not what we all want.

alternatively, I'd rather spend the same amount on a sexy super16mm cine lens (not the cctv ones)

I'm using a regular c-mount adaptor. I understand that branded ones even come with backfocus adjusters. at the moment, I've placed order on a modified computer, so I'm just waiting for that. the seller also had a navitar 16-160 f2 c-mount lens if any of you are interested. I was battling between the two but gave in for the extra wide end coverage
