does anyone has favorable or not so favorable experience with parisilk @ hv? loyal customers swear by them. i rang them for some prices, and they are fairly consistent with sellers in funan, sls. Just wondering why parisilk was not voted favorably in the poll.

Anyone who walked out from a shop with a good deal with swear by the shop. If you find that their prices aren't good enough, try other reputable shops like MS Colour, John3:16 etc who also have competitive prices. At the end of the day, it's all about getting a good deal more than anything else. I got my battery grip from a shop at Lucky Plaza, a place no one here would recommend but hey look I got it for like 30 bucks cheaper than elsewhere and since I was already there... why not.

Just make sure you have done your homework.

Agree with rendition.

Parisilk does have pretty competitive pricing for some of their items but it is still always good to shop around for the best deals.

I have had pretty pleasant experiences with Parisilk. They can be pretty busy though so you may have to wait at times to be served; but that is perfectly normal. I find the stuff in Parisilk very helpful and are very willing to help you order in items that they have ran out

yes, generally positive with parisilk, but just beware they may overprice smaller/accessories items even if their big ticket items are competitively priced. e.g. emolux 52mm uv filter at 32 bucks and nikon sl168 tripod at 68 (this one i kena carrot - :bsmilie:)

but still overall a plus from me.

this was in hv. i went in and the usual guys were not around. some newbie sold it to me. i was in a hurry so didn't think much and just paid and left. then i found out those were freebies for some pc show or something...

i think the overall pricing is relatively decent. If you're an ultimate no-frills just get out and be done with it consumer, then maybe you're looking in the right direction. that's provided you can stomach the service, because their service is frankly pathetic. In another thread somebody mentioned some issue about customer discrimination (newbie vs veteran), and ps is quite like that. they see you no up, then you'll get chopped (more often than not).

i was at one of the it/pc/comex shows a few yrs ago to get a simple canon powershot and (back then when i was totally ignorant about photography) I was looking for something with IS because I thought it would help my shaky hands. hte 'sales'man went to recommend me the ixus 70 that din have IS and said that there was, and I ignorantly bought it. After that, it didn't feel right, so I went back the following day and wanted to change to the powershot A710IS and that guy + his 'manager' were 100% standing firm on no-refund policy and pretty much don't give a damn. They even said, 'this one high ISO also lthe same as IS'. Even as a newbie, I found it ridiculous.

Granted, I was stupid to have bought the pns without confirming, but even then, I realized that these were just salesmen, nothing else. If you're looking for a reliable shop to trust and go back to in future, you'll need to look elsewhere.

azzurri is right, "competitive pricing for some of their items", I bought my 50D body from parasilk after comparing price with J316, MSColor and CP. But there are other times when MSColor or even CP offers better pricing.

If you been with CS long enough, you can almost hear the mantra... "do your research before buying"... "try to avoid shops (I shall not list them) that cut your throat"

they got the cheapest price digi-cab dry cabinet (30L) i can find. Cost me only $105... self carry home (no complains since i stay in clementi).

:)

Frankly speaking, I got mey Canon 1Ds Mark III at 12k plus...... very gd deal for the canon pro series camera body....... AWESEOME...............

i thought that the staff at parasilk hv ws great.i walked and enquired about the prices and they gave me a honest quote. it wasn't comparable with the other shops cause they weren't giving away the freebies..so i thought i will do my own calculation..i asked that guy a crazy lot of question on how much does this and that cost (the freebies offered by the other stores). he was still super friendly..no complains at all..i walked off and then after 5 minutes i walked back in and asked him about the camera again, this time i was asking him about what he thinks of the D90 and the 500D..he gave me another long and detailed explanation. giving me websites to read..and at one point, i even told him that i am not going to get it today cause i am still checking the price of various stores!...moreover, i even drifted to ask him about olympus..super out of topic..but he still smiled and was darn friendly in explaining everything to me. i felt that was great service on their part. when i walked out, even the other guy who was standing at the entrance said bye, awesome stuff, such friendly people!

i think if i ask this many questions at other stores, they would give me black face and be pissed off..

You are testing his patience or what :bsmilie:

Just to add, beside cameras, they sell GPS too, which I got from them at a very good price.

Hey TS,

Mine path with Parisilk crossed 2 times till now.. First was when i was getting my D90 last year, and recently was when i purchase a Samsung Digital Photo Frame from them.

I worked near Holland V, so i had the luxury to walk into Parisilk HV anyday of the weekdays.

When i was searching around for my D90, i called them alot of times to check the price and stock (D90 at that time was like out of stock "worldwide") and even went to the shop to check a few times. the staff was always polite and even helped me check with the other branches whether they got stocks. but, in the end, i did not get the D90 from them.. haa.. got it from TKFoto instead where their pricing was better.

Recently, i went around looking for Digital Photo Frame too... Check out lots of shops in Funan.. In the end, i decided on the Samsung one.. Was quoted $350 at one shop in Funan.. When i went to the Parisilk HV, the staff was friendly as usual and quoted me $300.. I went back to buy the next day...

Hope my experiences help... But still, do your research on the pricing first!!!

yes, i can safely say, as far as i am concerned, i hold their service stds in high regard. pricing wise, it is always good to do research. that's the only way to get the lowest price. you just can completely depend on one store.

some may not consider this a gripe, but the one time i was there (hv branch), i didn't look like a big-ticket customer so i was completely ignored. when i asked for certain things, they pretty much brushed me aside, even though there were no other customers.

actually it depends la, do you ever feel stalked about and felt uncomfortable in a shop. so maybe they were giving you space. for me, most of time i want no attention unless i need it. i feel most uncomfortable getting stalked ard in a huge and empty store

somehow, at times, we want attention and at other times we hate it..oh well..

Theres one down near the army camp at thomsom road isit? pass by once, but never really bothered to see if they sell any glass. Anyone care to comment?

they do have a few branches, and i think you are talking about nee soon camp? i've never been to that branch...quite far away..lol.
