for fiber-based paper, is it advisable to use a paper dryer to glaze the paper?

I know many people let the paper dry under some weight, as this is a convenient way to flatten the paper. Given the option, would it be better to use a dryer? (maybe faster / more shiny print / darker blacks.... ?)

To glaze the paper you need a 'glazing' machine, which I think Ruby can sell to you....but I am not sure anymore now with the digitall onslaught.

It works by pressing a heated metal plate onto the paper surface, but the metal plate must be very clean and flat! Or else you will get imprints. I personally like the egg like surface of air dried FB paper......

Nope, Ruby doesn't sell glazing machine.

And yes, u need to polish the glazing machine drum like anything....

The prob now is, you might not be able to find any more of the clothe to replace. Some folks here are trying to sell a $5k+ glazer for like $500 and no one's interested.

I bought my glazing plates from Ruby (years ago), my old glazer didn't have the plates anymore......can still give them a call if they can order for you.....

for the cloth, can't you make a do-it-yourself kind of cloth?
Once you know which material it is used for the cloth, I guess that it should be feasible to tailor one.

And what about the results when you use the paper dryer?

For flattening the print, you do not need a glazer. A dry mount press will do very well.

A glazer is very troublesome to use. I think HS can share his experience on that. But the shine on air dried glossy paper is already very nice. You may not like a surface that you can use as a mirror.
