I bought a Panasonic HDC-SD60 which is a Full HD camcorder but it does not comes with downloading software for Mac PC. I used iMovie to download and edit my video. The video quality looks OK when I played it in iMovie. However, when I tried to export the video to mpeg-4, the quality of the video is very bad.

How can I export the video so that the Full HD quality is maintain and I can play it on my HD TV. Please assist to advice. Many thanks in advance.

Your MP4 clip looks like crap because you are using the very low default MP4 bitrate setting on iMovie. For your next project, just export your final movie as a quicktime file. This is the fastest export possible as the iMovie need not transcode on the way out. Then download this free mpegtreamclip converter for mac Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows and transcode to MP4 or whatever format you need. Use the quality slider to choose the quality you desire. BTW, iMovie imports and edits at the 960x540 (iPad size) so there goes half your resolution once you ingest. Use Final Cut Pro if you need 1980x1080 output.

Thanks Bamboopictures for the valuable inputs. The quality of the video has improved. I also found that the media player in my HD TV is restricted to only 8 Mbps for MP4 format. Will consider the Final Cut Pro if I take videography more serious.
