Panasonic GH1 for Video

My son is keen on making videos and I have a GH1 that is now sitting in the dry cabinet. I've been told that a hacked GH1 take very good videos.

What do I need to do to convert the GH1 into a decent videocam? Which hacking software, who can do it for us (we are computer idiots). He currently has the Sony Movie Studio Platinum for editing.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Based on this point, I'd advise against it as you have to be comfortable doing it yourselves. It's not something shops will do for you unless you're ready to indemnify them from possibly bricking the camera. Plus you will need to tweak and learn which patches to use depending on what you're shooting, as well as be ready to troubleshoot when your camera freezes, etc. Bottom line, if you really want to hack it, you need to be ready to read and learn + trial & error.

It already takes decent 720p out of the box. A few old second hand primes and an adapter will keep him occupied for months.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. Much appreciated.
