Even with the DMW-MA1APP adapter, currently only three 4/3 lens are able to autofocus in the G1....

In that case, it is not much of an upgrade for existing 4/3 camera owners.... it reminds me of the Nikon D60... cannot use "older" lens... :bsmilie:

Yup, that's a good analogy! :bsmilie:

But then again if I wanted to go small, I wouldn't want to be bogged down by the relatively larger 4/3 lenses. In fact, I'll probably go full time prime on a micro FourThirds body (which I fully expect to get, as long as Olympus goes rangefinder-styling!).

And if the S-AF and C-AF is up to speed, I can see micro 4/3 replacing my normal 4/3 gear, of course this assuming that Olympus/Panasonic churns out f2.8 zooms eventually.

Well at least your Flash can still be used with the micro 4/3 system.

LOL, but for accuracy's sake, you can use all 4/3 lenses on micro 4/3, except for some lenses you'll be limited to MF or slower AF.

While not giving any specific delivery dates, Panasonic is promising at least three new lenses next year (2009), a 7-14mm f/4, a 20mm f/1.7 super-compact prime (great for street photography!) and a long-ratio 14-140mm f/4-5.6 OIS "HD" lens. - The "HD" indicates that this lens will support on-the-fly focusing during HD movie recording, on a camera that will also be announced sometime in 2009.

Does that means that they are offering another camera other than G1? It seem that the G1 is like a concept model for Panasonic to test the market before trying to roll out something fantastic. :bsmilie:

What? What about zuiko SHG lenses? also cannot auto focus?
Hopefully olympus can come out something better!!:cry:

If only they applied a retro rangefinder body styling to this....I'm sure it will fly off the shelves for both rangefinder diehards & the image-conscious....I know for sure I will buy one too

Good news for you. I think Oly is offering one next year....
