you might want to try the HMC -152 as its pal model.

Lets limit this discussion to the AVCHD recording format and the quality of video you'll be getting (technically & subjectively).

AVCHD is quite a highly compressed video format, not very impressive in my point of view.
Depending on your requirements, for that price, I may just consider the new canon 7D camera since it's using H264 compression too...equally as bad in video compression as compared to other video recording formats.

Of course considerations of drawbacks using DSLR for video acquisition are in battery life, continuous recording times (file size limits), and audio input capabilities.

Benefit of using the 7D's movie recording feature lies in the options of using many different lenses.

If you're doing events video filming, perhaps the HMC-152 will be good for your applications, but if you're doing more cinematography style of filming, perhaps the new 7D DSLR may be a better option.

thanks for ur info.
i'm using for event's, wedding & corporate.

For wedding, i have been using 5dmk2 as a B cam. HMC 152 as A cam.
both of them work well in different situation.
Like DXNMedia mention, i prefer the 5dmk2 for the interchangable lense option.
but if u are shooting in a non controllable environment like wedding and event.
you will realised that its need some time to set up and frame the shot.
HMC 152 is a good A cam for all purposes.
but for both option, you will need a fast processor and raid hard disk.
last but not least, a lot of memory card.

what do u use to convert the HMC 152 format for editing in FCP?
ever consider JVC GY-HM100?
understand that JVC GY-HM100 can edit natively in FCP for a better work flow..
but the disadvantage is JVC having a smaller CCD and small physical size..

Anyway anybody know what is the latest price of a Panasonic HMC 152 and JVC GY-HM100E?

Wanted to make a comparsion interms of $$ to specs.

and just wonder if Sony have any tapeless camcoder for the prosumer for this range?? seems like all S:bigeyes:ny tapeless are much more expensive?? :dunno:
