PA up for hire

Hi all,

I have just recently completed my diploma course in Ngee Ann Polytechinic, Diploma in Mass Communication. I will be turning 20 in a few months time, and I am currently awaiting graduation and NS.

I have no prior experience in being a photographer's assistant but I've studied photodocumentary as a module (for a semester) under the tutelage of renowned local commercial photographer, Mr. Wayne Umehara. Under his patience and guidance, I was awarded a grade of AD (Distinction) for the module. Each semester, only 1 or 2 students are awarded the grade of AD in this module.

I have basic lighting knowledge, however, I do have a good understanding of exposure, focal lengths and composition. I also possess some graphic design and layout skills in applications such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. As such, I have freelanced for a regional publishing firm, producing from business magazines to tabloid-sized trade publications.

I have a keen interest in photography and want to do it as a full-time career. Therefore I am most willing to learn. I know that I am in no position to bargain, but I hope that a willing photographer will take me under his wing, impart some knowledge and pay me decently (I know I have no prior experience but I don't believe in being exploited just because I am inexperienced or still a 'student').

my advice. maybe you can first create a short preview of your portfolio.

a website would be good. with a slideshow of your images, flash based if you wan to protect your works.

i believe you can not only become PA. but maybe assisting photographer. why not give it a try ?

just an update guys:

- been contacted by 2 people, meeting up with one tomorrow, and probably another one next week.
- doing up my portfolio website (pls be patient! will take some time.)
