hi guys,

this sucks

but i have unfilled canon warranty cards for my lenses and my body that are overdue by 1.5 months. now my set needs calibration and i'm gonna send the warranty in. a few questions

1. will canon do the set if there's warranty but no receipt ?

2. can i just backdate the warranty to the day of purchase ? (yeah i lose out by not cheating)

3. will they accept my warranty application coz it's 1.5 months late ?

4. will they repair/service it based on my receipt without a warranty and the "i lost my warranty card" phrase ?

what's the point, if you intended to extend the warranty in the first place? :dunno:

1. how will your camera be under warranty if you have yet to send the warranty card in?

2. if you have no receipt, how to backdate, anyway?

3. good question.

4. not even when you're in CPS will they accept that, but that's my personal guess.

well.

i have both the receipt
and the warranty

it's just 1.5 months late
for the lenses i didn't send it.

for the camera.. i just got the warranty like 1 week ago coz AP said it wasn't printed when i bought the camera.

actually didn't intend to cheat on the timings

just lazy

For lenses it's fine... just bring the receipt and warranty cards with you. It will begin from the date of sale.

problem is i haven't sent the warranty cards.

okay for my 10d
i just received the warranty like 1 week ago (despite having purchased it for 1.5 months) coz AP said the warranty wasn't printed yet.

i guess if i send now there's still enough valid reason right

but i have receipt for everything to prove my date of purchase

damn can't edit posts

thanks sehsuan and tim

i do not think its important to send the warrantly cards, they are more concern if you produce the receipt which can determine the date of purchase more accurately.

just bring your unfilled warrantly card and receipt for servicing. :)

for canon, I have checked before, they just wants you to produced your warranty card with the date inputed, no need for receipt at all. Therefore for those who have unfilled warranty, then it's just as gd as lifetime warranty, just fill it in when your set needs warranty service, otherwise just leave it blank, dun believe, u can call their warranty service and see what they say, ask them whether need to produce receipt or warranty card, which I was told, just warranty card with valid vendor's stamp & date matching your serial no. gd news rite?

crap

the folks at alan photo didn't stamp my warranty card.

great.

can i just produce warranty and receipt since i have both

and screw the stamp

sure! the poof is in the receipt right, you can go back to the dealer to chop the date anytime.

hmm

hi guys

thanks for your help

checked with canon

they say it doesn't matter if the warranty card is blank or what (no stamp or unfilled)

as long got receipt and a warranty (of course the serial no. must match your equipment) and a date of purchase (on the receipt) they'll do it.

and it doesn't matter if you didn't mail it

they'll still do it

so i'm going down now.
