Just to clarify why I would bring a flash along. My holidays are usually with family. Sometimes I would like to take pictures of the kids, the food we eat, hotel room etc. It's easpecialy useful during the nights.

You really are minimalist. Hats off to you. But actually it is quite true that lugging around a lens that is hardly going to be used is quite a waste of effort. That is why I am trying to keep to two lens. Maybe if I get the Tamron 17-50F2.8, I will be like you. One lens all the way.
I had a Sigma 18-200mm once...I find that the picture quality at the tele end not good leh...so quite wary of getting another all-in-one zoom. I sold it off and bought a 55-200which I find the picture quality consistently good throughout the zoom range. But I guess the Sony 18-250 is a much superior all-in-one zoom compared to the Sigma.
I someone was trying to recommend me and not sherchoo to use a flash. ;p
I know that using external flash to bounce of a wall/ceiling will make the lighting less harsh compared to direct flash (like those in-built camera flash) but I don't find it worth the effort to carry around for vacation. But a flash is must for indoor events or for serious portraits so if I ever explore such photography, then i will get a flash.
