hi guys..
firstly i would like to thank all of you for the help and suggestions..
my camera is working fine again..
but up to now i do not know what is the cause for all my heartaches..
the solution was to take out the battery, put it in again and power it on..
voila!.. all is well..
i took a few shots and powered it on and off and the latest shots remained in the sd card..
i did not reformat the old sd card and continued to reuse it..
so i do not know what went wrong..
but as a precaution i am going to reformat all my cards using the camera and reset my camera..
hopefully no more of such nonsense again..
