If that happens I will be starting to find banding on my E-500 and so will a few hundred(thousand)s more. ;)

Actual from those forumers from SemiCon industries, u will know that the E330 MOS sensor is technical using less current than the traditional CCD sensor. Due to this reason, the E330 sensor should be enjoying the following technical advantages:

1) MOS sensor has less noise and draw less current -> better energy efficiency + better ISO performance
2) MOS sensor has better manufacturing yield than the CCD (more like bipolar device), MOS sensor tends to have a better lifespan as well.

The extra $200 for E330 is ok if u need the Live View like me, and slight better ISO performance. No offence. Cheers & Happy New Year to All Clubsnap members!

The slightly better high ISO performance comes with some unwanted artifacts in underexposed sections of the image. Difficult to avoid in high-contrast lighting shots.

I'd like to admit now that the Liveview is more useful that I thought it was. Based on recent experiences, it's the difference between having a shot or totally no shot at all, or having to shove through a mob to get a shot in crowded events -unless you'd like a lot of OOF heads in the foreground of the shot. Plus, I found that the Liveview + my LowePro Slingshot 200AW bag is a good combo for low-light or long telephoto shots without needing to deploy a tripod... the Slingshot acts as an impromptu stable support platform, while the Liveview makes focusing and framing possible when the E-330 is resting on the Slingshot. This way, I've been able to take evening walk-about shots at ISO400 (shutter as slow as 1/20 sec) than the usual ISO800-1600 I'd be using if it were to be hand-held.

I have a hard time to get a shot at Paris Disneyland evening parade last year. The french are just too tall, esp when the climbed onto the rubbish bin and benches to occupied the "high ground" for the photo shooting. From there, I have learnt to appreicate the usefulnes of the "adjustable" LCD on a DSLR...Cheers!

well, i still enjoy the metal feel for my e300.

Mos sensor probably draw less current. Less noise? hard to say. As for manufacturing yield, it REALLY depend on the specific process and the chip design.

For me, I really wanted to get live view because of one thing, I like to shoot from waist height so that my wife's head will appear higher than the horizon. If I have shot the below at my eye level, my wife's head will probably be right on (or slightly below) the horizon.... yucks.

Example:

It gets REALLY tiring after squatting all the time, especially in winter. I really hope the live view will make composition easier so I can try more angles easily, waist height, eye level, above the head, etc.

My E330 is now stuck at VPOSTUSA waiting for them to ship to singapore. Over a week since I ordered it from Adorama.

Yeah I know the feeling of having something stuck at the post office. I had to wait 2 weeks to clear my vosonic from taiwan. M'sian customs held it back. Say it's a AV equipment and requires an import duty of 35%+10%!!! Finally I had to go there to clarify that it's only a memory backup with a display. the rest of the garbage that vosonic added is only to enhance the value.

wind30, I agree. For portrait and macro the Live wiew is a big plus. I wish the mirror shaft was removable to be able to look straight down like in some old film cameras. Even Nikon has unfortunately abandoned that feature, so LW is a good replacement for that.
