I just realize that my 24mm F2.8 is non D. What is there a lot of difference between D and non D ? ( in term of price and quality )

Price will depend on the buyer and seller... ;)

For functionability, the D has a distance chip which helps give a better guage when using iTTL flash. To some, they think it's useless and not necessary, but I'd only get a D lens over the non-D versions...

D40/x/60 can take unmodified Pre AI perfectly, unlike the others which need conversion to AI or AIS (no diff for DSLRs at all).

There is also a Nikkor 40mm f2.8P lens that has the metering contacts but is manual focus that can work with the D40.

should be 45mm instead of 40mm. I am looking for this lens too.

Can the flash determine the distance as well using its own sensor?

Edit : with SB600 / 800 /900

That would be the Auto aperture or Non TTL auto flash modes. They may not be as accurate when used with mutliple subjects or when the subject is off centre.

SB-600 doesn't have an auto mode. ;p

But so far I think the exposure using auto mode sometimes seems better than TTL. :dunno:

I dunno... I'm speaking on the part of the SB-800... :)

Personally, I still prefer iTTL. :dunno:

yup, good lens, a real "standard lens" ; hardly to find, may have it at about S$1000

Just helped a CSer brought in a mint condition black copy for about $500. Mint chrome about $700.

Just sold my D40 to a nice guy, Now ready to get D80,D200, or D90, or.......D300

If compatibility with manual lenses is a concern, D200 at least. If not, D90 or D80 would give the best value for money.
