Nikon em

Just a few things to take note:

1. Make sure the film rewind knob turns when you advance the film. If it doesn't, it means the file was not properly picked up by the film advance catch. No pictures will be taken, even tho' the counter number will move.

2. Some of the pictures might come out blur, due to poor focusing or handshake. The hitrate is not as high as AF DSLRs. It's good not to have high expectations.

These are from my own personal experience anyway. :)

but ok la , still livable with the screen of the EM. got it at a cheap price 2nd hand from a shop. was lik those they throw it at one corner waiting for ppl to pick it up and take a look kind. took me a while to clean up the viewfinder. but still luv the feel of this cam..tough i must say i wished i had a FM3a

Fwah...20 rolls of film (alot leh)? or 20 more exposures? Haha...big diff.

Do post if you can scan them.

wow. the condition of ure Em looks very good. and u even got the original flash!

the nikon EM is specified to have longest shutter speed of 1second in auto mode.

but anyone did realised it actually went beyond 1sec..even up till minutes in auto mode if there isnt enuff light? i tried puting a lens cap over it at iso 50 , maybe f-stop 8 , n it took a few minutes to take the long exposure and closing the shutter when the camera thhinks it is enuff.

is tis normal ? anyone EM users tried tis method to take night shots?

For using film, I will make sure after the film is engaged, I will turn the rewind knob until it cannot be turned anymore. This will ensure that the film is firmly engaged. Then I close the cover. As you wind the film, you will see the rewind knob is following. Usually, when you use manual camera, you can get extra shots when using 36 exposure; if you catch the trick of loading the film, and your camera support metering before "1" counter, which I cannot remember does EM support or not. For FM2n, it does, and I can get 39 shots from 36 explosure film.

For EM, it is quite simple to use. If the shutter speed goes below 1/30, then it will sound off the alarm, you will need to find some support if you wish to goes below 1/30. As you are using manual control camera, you will need to know all your settings, the combination of shutter speed and aperture. In addition, you will need to know your own limit, what shutter speed can you hold steadily before handshake will be significant, there is no VR for manual camera, even if your lens is VR equiped. You are in control of the camera, instead of everything control by the camera, be it AF film or Digital SLR. You just cannot pick up the manual camera and start pressing the shutter release, without focusing and adjustment of the settings.

Yes, I believe EM can goes beyond 1 sec in the auto mode. If I am not wrong, I test out quite a number of shots, but I am unable to retrieve the film, as I do not know where I placed them.

In addition to that, if the picture taken would be overexposed, even at highest shutter speed, the beep sound would come on too.

Apart from finding something more stable, you can choose a bigger aperture to overcome the "slow shutter speed". To combat overexposure, do the opposite, ie choose a smaller aperture.
