Nikon 85mm f/1.4D discontinued?

They can simply charge a few hundred dollars more just to put in the AF-S motor. :thumbsd:

true... if you happened to have a fully manual SLR like me. if so, you will want to keep dat AFD85/1.4 like me.

but, as most people are on digital now, probably (if they are really going to discontinue the AFD and then change it to a AFS/G) it won't affect them. if i might add, it might be very much welcomed cos the AFS does focus a lot faster than AFD. :p
 

Or consider the MF Carl Zeiss 85mm f1.4 ZF instead. It makes a better portrait lens anyway. By the way, I own both lenses so I can pass this judgment confidently.
 

Maybe an AFS 85/1.2 perhaps ;)

It will be out of reach by most people if that's so. Perhaps the same f/1.4 aperture with the usual 'Nano' crystal coating again. Seems like this crystal coating is a must in all the newer Nikon lenses down the road.:think:
