Hi all..
M43 user here and recently ive been trying to photoshop my photos to achieve the film look... And was wondering why doing It when I can jump right into using slrs...

Just a few questions.

im looking at the canon.ae1 p as I have a fd50 1.8 but where can I get the body.. (without breaking my bank)
Seems Like bns doesnt have much

What type of Film should I start off with?

canon ae-1 is a nice camera but why limited yourself to only one canon?... there others like a1/f1 or even the T series... but I think is okay to pay more for a really good condition one... no point getting a really dusty and dirty viewfinder it just spoil the whole experience and worry it will break down and start giving you problems. repairs are not cheap too.

you should try using cheaper negative film like superia 400 etc...

google is so great now you easier find all your answers...

there are plenty film cameras available at 2nd camera stores at Peninsular and Adelphi areas.

don't limit yourself to Canon only, it is just like you have a pair of shoes you really like, and changing the whole wardrobe just to match your shoes.

and try to stay away from cameras using those batteries are no longer in production if you want to use meter reading. but won't be an issue if you know how to judge exposure with your eyes.

you can try ebay for canon A-1 body they are pretty cheap(around 100) and those are professional grade camera of that era

Since you're m4/3 shooter if you like OMD maybe you want to hunt for Olympus OM series :-) camera hehe nice looking cam

Anyone can give a headsup of the pricing now if I were to get Slr + some film.from Peninsula

If you not rush to buy, maybe can search and wait see bnshave pols sell or not~ cuz normally peninsula shop will sell higher abit

Should I buy the body from.ebay around 60usd? Worth it?

60usd you can get a professional grade A1 or F1 haha... for ae-1p no.. why limited to yourself AE-1p seriously

if you think so... :bsmilie: but please only buy from japan sellers those that only sell mostly camera and lenses(sell many of them with good feedback). They know what they are selling. they ship pretty fast too!! less then a week will reach you! I know it might be a little bit more pricey but a lot less risky ;)

you can pick up a simple auto SLR for almost next to nothing at the usual second-hand shops around peninsular. do check out places like CamX, BenPhoto and Camera Workshop. they have probably one of the biggest collection of cameras around and at rather reasonable prices. i do suggest auto SLRs as it is easier to learn and use film compared to a manual SLR.

as for film... check out Ruby Photo. they have some selections of colour film from kodak and fuji.

Ae1p was actually my intended option but after looking at other options...the a1 suddenly ccaught my eyes due to the aperture priority....ill try to make my way down to peninsula to have a look... but roughly how much will be a decent price...

You can check out black market camera as well they have quite a big selection of bodies and lenses for a decent price
