dear all

like to seek your opinion on which brand and which model of digital cam is good value for $$$ if i wish to get one which is small, slim, light and able to take good clear pictures in poor lighting conditions i.e. at night, in dark lighting conditions of a club, concert.

thanks all!

I take it digicam means a Point & Shoot camera... try looking at the Fujifilm F30 specs, it has good performance at high ISO, but lens wide end starts at 36mm. For many this is not wide enough.

There is really no magic one size fits all at the moment, so really have to pick and choose what matters more to you... from your post night photopgrahy is important, so try reading up on the Fujifilm one and see if that fits your fancy.

Yup agree with azul123. For non-SLR cameras. Fuji has the one of the best ISO performance hence good for night or indoor with poor lightings.
You can look at the F10, F11 or F30 as mentioned.

But what i heard and read, the photos taken by F30 in bright condition is not as good as other brands. So it all depends on your needs.

Panasonic Lumix super compact cameras give you optical stabilizer so it may help too. I have a FX9, its flash is very weak so i do not usually use it to take night or indoor shots.

You may want to check out Sony too. From those Sony i tried, i find that i am able to take shots without flash and without pushing up the ISO yet the pic is sharp and not blur, but at similar conditions other brands will need flash else pic will be blur. So i presume it is due to the Carl Zeiss lens that these Sony cameras have.

Hope this helps.

Cheers-

Currently I think the most popular and best value must be the Fujifilm F30. There is really no competition in low light.

Yeah agree with you, F30 is a very good performance camera.
