Chanced upon Dragon Image Pte Ltd that just opened next to Cathay Photos. Carrying Kamerar, Sevenoak, E-image, Aputure, Konova, and mainly China-made brands. This Sevenoak rig in their shop window had thumb controlers for both zoom and focus. Very compact precision motors running on just 9V battery. http://www.amazon.com/Sevenoak-SK-MHF03-Motorized-Follow-Shoulder/dp/B00BPAU04U

good find! shall go there on Friday to see if I can find a replacement for my missing Konova slider leg..

Went there today. Interesting content. But not sure if SG market (w all the hobbyists united) can support the market? Haha

On the other end, Cathay has set up another section purely selling video gears. Impressive (and costly). Haha

I think the market is growing everyday now that more and more people are buying DSLR. Not long before they get curious about video and want better results.
The wiser retailers will need to stock what is popular and practical. I think for a shopping centre like PP, its better to stock consumer and prosumer level products.
Just does not make business sense to be stocking heavy equipment in prime retail space especially gear that professionals may prefer to rent over buying. Retailers will probably move only one Arri fresnel for every hundred pieces of LED light.
SGcamerastore and cathay have their inventory right seeing how much they have expanded. So it goes to shows the market is big enough to sustain the hobby.
I would gladly pay a bit more for gear I can test out in a brick and motar store over buying online.
