Found this brochure in my Aputure Amaran packaging:

looks good. any more info?

Although not stated, I think the controller is meant only for Canon cameras. Very similar in function to the Aputure V-Control but in a handier form factor

No gearing needed, the controller activates the internal motor of EF lense.

This is a bit off-topic, but couldn't help noticing you mentioned Aputure Amaran.

Did you get the 528S panel?
Have read some having issues with their units flickering when dimmed, and some even report a high-pitched sound.
Experienced anything like that so far?

Now that you have mentioned it, yes I noticed the flickering when the unit is moved or adjusted. I think it is caused by poor battery contact and the weight of my NP970s. But there is no flickering when the unit is left alone. The whole panel is made of plastic afterall. I didn't notice any noise either. I got the 528W (wide) instead of the 528S (spot)

Cool, thanks for the info!

------

In case anyone else is interested, I read about the flickering in the comments on cheesycam.

Just an aside, My Aputure Amaran is now broken after just 4 outings. The connection pin on on of the battery slot broke and dissappeared into the night. I can no longer use it as battery light.:(

I noted Aputure blog and they has released the USB focus handle VG-1 last week.
The functions are most like V-Control 1S, but you can use it by your one hand.
There are some accessories which work with jib and rig in the package, very interested.

I heard Aputure had solved the flicker problem last month, and there is video on youtube.

oh,i watched video about 528 light from youtube, he said aputure has solved the flicker problem.

Hope it is useful for you, review from cheesycam.
