Well, can't say much except that this lens is going to hit the market end of this Feb. Compact for a F1.4, the lens is built up of "Super High Refractor Glass" to release the "classic taste" with your photographs. Gives Bokeh that creates dimensional effect. You will have 2 choices of coating to choose from : a) MC = Multi-coat b) SC = single coat (for neutral classical feel). Hood is to be sold separately. The technical details I shall not translate; but you can roughly make out. (Eg.smallest aperture = F16, filter size = φ43 etc)

Well, rather tempting. Think I am giving up the idea of buying a F1.7, hehe.....

looks to be a similar size and build as the 40nokton. in which case, it should be approx 3/4 the length of the 35cron asph. just my guess...

I also have the official specs at my site. A "friend" (who passed me the specs and nomenclature diagram a few days ago) hinted to me what the expected pricing will be, too...but I haven't said anything yet :devil:

i hope the reviews wld be good, cos i'm in search of a 35 and am seriously considering a zeiss biogon. my onli concern is how this lens wld render the oof areas. hope it wun be like the 40 nokton

The marketing language makes it seem like the wide-open bokeh (where people had issue with the 40) was considered in the design, so it should be okay.

Personally, I feel the bokeh is too harsh. The OOF areas, if there are 'light sources' in the background emphasises the harshness (if shot wide open). For me, where i shoot b&w, sharpness is not critical, but a smooth bokeh is impt as i tend to shoot wide open. To me, the nokton's bokeh affects the overall smoothness of my composition.

But thats jus for me. There are others who swears by it and love the big aperature. However, if I were to take a look at the price, performance & size, there isn't really that can come close.

thanks. i seldom shoot it wide open (moving objects with that kind of depth of field is too hard for me), so i haven't noticed this.

I'm looking at this lens closely, if I can afford it, I'll snap it up. If not, I'll take the 35mm PII and hold my breath at 1/4 - 1/8.

I was not a sucker for fast lens...

But recently got infected by gommy & hacker.

Took out the 35mm/f1.2 for a spin at Changi Airport on R2A & trigger winder... never had so much fun for a long time... Even at Indoor, ambient lighting, my shutter speed was 1/250 and sometime 1/500s. :bigeyes:

Well... fast lens is suitable for low light situation, great for OOF so called "Bokeh" effect. In fact, I noticed that with RF, composition with the OOF in mind allows the photog to have a higher level of imagination and expressed more creatively.

Somehow with SLR, I noticed that with WYSIWYG, it sorts of limit myself to think in the box. When I opened both eyes on the RF, it frees myself to see out of viewfinder & out of the box.
