Cursor, I get it on why you chose the 2-system set. I thought of getting it but it was yanked. Wonder why your shipment involved VPOST? The store ships direct internationally right?

Actually I wasn't aware of the cotton carrier holster until you guys pointed it out here. Anyhow, it's better to look like a gunslinger then a stormtrooper.

So with that thing, how do you change lens quickly?

Yes they do ship internationally, but as I got other stuffs that I order (B&H, Hoodman) from US, so I go thru Vpost.

IC.

The online store staff emailed me yesterday to inform me that they are fixing the checkout issue. Guess I will wait till they fix their billing system.

Hi,

I get my spider camer holster today.

Initial feeling is okay. But I forsee two issues (I am using Canon 500D with shorter lens like 17-55):

1. The spider plate when fixed to the body is covering the battery cover. So when I need to take out the battery I have to unscrew the plate. Very uncool....

2. With the pin attached to the plate and the body, I cannot rest the body with the bottom on a flat table any more (as the pin is sticking out). If you see the video in the spider web site you will notice they rest the camer on the side...

For how good it is I have to wear it for a couple of shooting sessions.

Ya, it's pretty uncool for the plate to block the battery door. When I saw the plate design, I knew it would be a problem for the battery door (depends on what camera). Wish it has a narrower profile. If anyone knows any metalwork service, I could design the plate myself and get it custom made.

I planned to order an additional pin and attach them for left and right. So, can kinda stand.

I look at the video from the spider website and at the very end of the "plated" video there a few sentences related to a smaller camera setup that a possibility is not to use the plate at all but connects the "pin" directly to the body... will try it later and see if it work well for me.

Ordered on set. Probably in by year's end or early next year. Ordered an extra Spider Pin.

Wonder if anywhere locally is selling RC2 quick release plate with 1/4 socket below? My current RC2 plate has no screw socket below. Intend to screw the Spider pin into the QR plate, skipping the Spider Plate altogether (as it will block the battery door).

Got it and tried it on my Nikon D300... good news is the plate will not block the battery door for D300. So I believe D700 will be the same.
But with the pin sticking out of the base need some time to get use to it. As with the plate is easier, as it had few threaded holes for you to place the pin on one that will cause least intrusion.
Not easy to work on belt if you don't tuck in your shirt and it work great if you use their belt system.

Chances are, the Spider Plate will block the batt door of my GH1. The RC2 plate is a perfect size. Juz need a bottom socket for the Spider Pin.

If you intend to buy the SpiderPro system with add ons, you better check on the shipping rates. Twice in two months, I have found shipping fee and total calculation discrepancies at the online store. Because of the discrepancies, you could be overcharged especially on the shipping fee (between 10 to 20 US dollars) Twice, I pointed these out to the merchant. I got a partial refund on overcharging and I have no idea when my order will ship. One of the most unpleasant online shopping experiences I have in a decade.

I like the SpiderPro System as it works for me. However, I find the SpiderPro Plate crumble-some and it blocks my Panasonic GH1's battery door even I attach it to the narrowest width of the plate (as seen in Picture 1). If I need to change battery, I have to remove the plate and then re-attach back. Anyhow, I think the SpiderPro Plate is made for full featured DSLR cameras and should work perfectly fine. If you have a smaller camera like mine, you gotta improvised.

I always have the standard RC2 quick release plate attached to my GH1. Don't see a need to remove it and it doesn't block the battery door. There are three holes in the RC2 plate itself without any screw thread. So went down to some industrial park and find someone who could tap a quarter-twenty screw thread.

As you can see in Picture 2 and 3, I now have the Spider Pin screwed into the RC2 plate without ever to use the SpiderPro Plate and hook up to the SpiderPro Camera Holster. Two problems. Firstly, the Spider Pin is a bit long and it scratched the bottom part of the camera base. If you're not so particular about scratches at the base, good. A simple solution is to use a washer. I will probably go get one soon. Secondly, you have to remember to carry the wrench around. Oh well, it's small enuff to put inside a wallet.

In Picture 3 above, I can replace battery without ever to remove the RC2 plate or Spider Pin. If I need to use a tripod, I only need to unscrew the pin. Life is easy now.

Juz to share some tip and tricks for SpiderPro System owners or anyone who may consider this.

A.T., thanks for you update and review. I have decided against getting the spider. The base plate is a little too "out there". I went with the R strap in the end.

Get what's most comfortable for you. I always believe in that.
