Keep the negative in plastic film sleeve (brought from Japan, Yodabashi) and place inside storage box (can buy storage box from Ikea). I prefer storage box to file. :)

David, I use film sleeves (35 and 120) as well...Dan bought some for me from Seoul.
I file the sleeves into a 3-ring binder...thinking of buying a box from ikea to keep the files:confused:

Ruby sells the sleeves but I was told they are made of paper and also quite ex.
Chiif will be bringing in some from Japan soon.

my 2 cents experience,

use paper sleeve, acid free type if possible. in case u dun hav the luxury of keep the fungus out, a paper sleeve strangely 'cleanse' the neg when u pull it out.. can't explain but it happens, keeping the neg still stunning new.

store the sleeves in ring files, put them upright, dun stack them over the other.

just me...

I second that, paper sleeves are good and reliable.. the only single drawback is.. hard to see all the negatives:embrass:

find the ones at ruby expensive at $0.50 a pop..
any better place to get them cheaper?..

paper ones are the best. they dont stain your negatives. Over the years.. plastic will "transfer" the print over.

ha~! I always use the plastic sleeves that come with the processed negatives.... ever since.... ^_^ never knew there is so much requirements to store negatives properly...

For cheaper alternative, Daiso actually sell plastic negative holder sleeve, the size actually for medium format, only some outlet (rare though) have 35mm size, but for me fit the 35mm in medium format size is ok. It come with like around 5-10 pages per pack i think, don't remember. The sleeve has holes so easy to fit into binder.
