neg/slide storage

Hi all,

I was looking for a way to store my negative/slide and come out w some question, hope someone will help me. To store negative the paper sleeves or plastic sleeve is better ? And then where can i get those sleeves ? I go Konota and riceball but dont have... And how much u got for it ?

paper sleeves not transparent. not for viewing.

i have it in plastics, making sure it's plastics for archieval purpose.

very very cheap in china, i bought a some in BJ.. but i cannt recall how much.
if not, get it from B&H and Andorama... which is still made in china.

Thanks Boochap and waileong, actually i did searching before come here to ask. In the old post also got some information but not enough. While searching i saw a debate whether use paper or plastic. I heard that paper is better for keeping, but quite not sure. I know that we can buy it on internet ( what can not buy on internet nowaday) But for some reason i can't use internet order thus looking for a store, that's why i asked for store,not website. And in order to avoid carrot chop, i wish to know the average price. Thanks a lot for ur help.

I've just checked my collection of slides in sleeves, and while B&W seems to be ok in one of those PrintFile "archival" plastic sleeves, I have 2 rolls of Velvia about 2 years old that seems to be sticking to the sleeve. Doesn't seem to be smudging the negatives and its only on the smooth side. I'm thinking of switching them to something less sticky, plastic or paper.

Otherwise, all my B&W films seems to be sitting well in plastic sleeves.

Do u keep those plastic with the film in drybox?

ayo, when it rains.. N/S/E/W make no different lahhh. rainy monsoon is coming again.. good luck.humidity in singapore is close to 100%.

therefore my conclusions -
if u only have diy drybox, go for paper sleeves.
if have a good drybox, paper or plastic all ok.
however, if diy drybox is not properly sealed, sleeves or no sleeves.. be careful of fungus.
so, better to have a good drybox with paper or plastics sleeves. :bigeyes:
this kind of disscussions i doubt u can find with internet search... becuz all those angmoh living in dry temperate countries, they can use plastics sleeves or without drybox.. :think:

btw, i have all my films in plastics transparent sleeves.. many hundred over sheets, for yrs already, never get sticky, becuz all kept in drybox all the while.

Strange nobody mentioned, I buy all my stuffs from Ruby at Penisula, they sell paper sleeves. Prefer that to plastic. Plastic sleeves cost a bomb if certified archival. Doesn't stick. Only problem is that you can't do contact print directly. Image still identifiable through a light box. And I file that in those files for film, obtained from Popular.
