need to upgrade v. editing software using JVC Everio GZ-MG22

Just purchased JVC Everio GZ-MG22.

Found the bundled sofware for editing quite limited.
Have used Ulead MediaPro V 6.0 a few years before. (can't use, cannot recognise the files)

will the latest Ulead software recognise the JVC mod. extension mpeg2 files?

Can recommend other software that can go with JVC Everio GZ-MG22.

most software is supported with the mod extension, else another easy way is to change the mod to mpg extension.
