Hello all, i m very new or perhaps noob to film.

I just finished 2 rolls of films, and i have no idea should i develop it or scan?

I search in forums and some mention abt C41? Scan? Frame all these? Whats this abt? Can someone enlighten me? :)

And to develop is to wash the photos out or?

Scan is whereby they scan the photos into cd and u can pick which one u wanna wash it out?

And one last request, anyone living near jurong(hopefully), can tell or give me suggestions where to develop/ scan becos it is cheaper or better service?

And the cost? Thanks alot guys!!

What film are you using? Fuiji Superia? Kodak Gold? C41 is generally for colour negatives. You can see what chemicals the film need from the canister.

Frame all these?

I guess you mean mount them on slides? If it is colour negatives, no point mounting. People usually mount colour reversal film (slide film) so that they can either view it on a projector and/or it is easier to view on a light box. If you do not do either of these, not much point to spend the extra money to mount.

Develop/process is more of a term. If you do not want to do prints, you can just tell the person that you just want to process the film and do not need the prints.

Yes and no. Even if you do not scan, you can still pick and choose which pictures you want to print from the negative. There is a number above each photo on the negative; for example 1A, 2A and so on.

If you want to see how the pictures look like in colour without printing all the photos, you can ask the person to do a contact print. A contact print will show you all the pictures in a single (usually) 4R size paper; it should cost around $1 when you process your film.

I do believe that there is a FotoHub in Jurong Point. Not sure how much they charge for colour negatives but for slide film (those that usually require E6), it cost around $6.95 just to process.

For colour negatives, it would usually cost $3-5 per roll just to process the film.

Hope it helps.

film, need to process after exposure made,
after processing, you can decide to scan or making prints from it,
if it is a negative, you need convert it to positive image, via making prints or scan it,
if it is a slide, since it is already positive images after process, you can view in direct,

for negative, if is color, usually use C41 to process the film,
for slide, usually use E6 to process the film,

you can see what are the recommended process method printed outside the film cartridge.

for where to send your film, please refer to Useful addresses of common photographic equipment/services shops
