Need advise

Recently I got the Sony HDR-CX350E, if I were to transfer the Full HD recordings to DVD, I'm afraid that would be very troublesome due to limited memory in DVD (only 4.7G), I need some advise :

-- Is the recorded full HD video able to convert to a std format? (lower resolution)
-- I'm planning to store all the HD recorded videos in an external hard disk. How to playback the HD videos to my plasma TV as it only has HDMI input and no USB input whereas the external hard disk only has USB output?
-- Is it necessary or a must to use a media converter for the above playback?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can convert to lower resolution, but of course it would not be HD any longer.

You can consider getting a media player (there are several brands around, I have a Western Digital one) with an HDMI output. This will have USB ports to connect hard drives or thumb drivers.
